Punch Needle

So shock of all shocks I am needle punching.
I went to a local shop with a friend and treated myself.

It will be cute when it is finished.

I was flipping through country living and saw this I love it!
A vintage rug.

My sweet B graduated from kindergarten  where oh where have the years gone....

It was a weekend filled with dance recitals. I always get a little weepy as mom was a dancer too. Great memories.

This is the look of do" I have to stand here one more minute for pictures!"
It has been so muggy but the thunderstorms have come in to clear it out I hope.

I hope you are all well and enjoying the start to your summer.

Motorcycle Week.....

It is motorcycle week in the lakes region
and I have made it my mission to stay as far from them as possible.

My gardens are starting to perk up, this is lupine

Happy blackberries

My one yellow iris

The purple iris. It has been very hot and humid
here not my weather at all...

So before work I get out and water things so when the heat of the day hits them they have a chance.

I have a lot of hosta one of my favorites.
My days are work and home. The roads are busy with the bikers
and I am happy to give them the road, I just don't like the traffic.
And when I do get out I take all the back roads I know.
This little dirt road runs behind us and makes easy access to and from work and the store.
**
We are cooling down tonight thank goodness we do not have air conditioning so I have a hard time sleeping in the heat.
I hope you are all enjoying spring/summer.
we will be complaining about the snow before you know it.

Thursday's With Cathy

My very close friend's name is Cathy also.
We try to meet up each week and most weeks it is Thursday's after work.
We hit the thrift store, did well and then because the sun was shining and warm we headed for an ice cream and a bit of a stroll.
We live in the lakes region of NH people pay lots of money to vacation where we live. We headed to the lake house (hotel and restaurant)and their adirondack chairs. What a view! the birds played in the trees above us,the fishermen trolled by us, and all felt right with the world.
So on this thursday I am thankful for my sweet friend, for good health,  for where we live, and our thursdays together.
P.S I just saw it is national best friend's day!

Rain Rain and A Wedding

We have had more rain than we need and the sun
is a rare thing round here. But last Thur out it came in the afternoon.

I met up with my sweet friend Cathy and we went to a spa
event under the tent next to the lake. (these are her pictures) We went to dinner and a walk, just perfect.

This weekend we headed for Old Cape Cod.
For my nephew's wedding.

It was a lovely low key wedding and it was nice
to see family again.
***
We didn't see much of the sun but the cape is beautiful anyway.
Not much time to wander around.
I do not like the ride to the cape,so much traffic and 3 hours in the car not my idea of fun. One really nice thing that happened on the way home the car in front of us paid for our toll. It was only 1.00 but it made our day.
****
So we are home all snug it is raining again
and low 50's but still happy to be here.
 Back to work tomorrow.

Memorial Weekend

Please remember why we have this three day weekend.
No matter the politics, or any other issues we are still free
because of those who fought for it.

We have been cool and rainy most of last week
Then the wind came an blew the last of the flowers off the flowering crab, made it look like snow.

By Sat the sun peeked out of the clouds and made a good day
Today is a beautiful day.

I have been trying to walk most days and low and behold
I found the elusive lady slipper. A friend and I usually hike this time of year and see how many we can find.

I was walking by the window and this guy was just sitting there
thinking about his last meal of the day. Our feeder is off a window on the second floor so no bears can get at it. So I have one of the few feeders still up in the area. Bears will destroy a feeder and it is not good for the bear to learn to come to them for food.

Today we headed to the other side of the lake to see how the other half lives, We had lunch out on a deck by the docks very nice.
We walked around I went in a couple of shops and home we came.

The pollen has been horrid so I have been cleaning a lot.
Washing curtains and windows etc But it was not all
work I also made croissants for the very first time. I have been very intimidated by the process for awhile but I threw caution to the wind and gave them a try! If I do say so myself yuuuuuummmm
They came out so good. My husband loves them.
***
I am back to work tomorrow which is fine as I have to take next Monday off, we are going to Cape Cod for a wedding. I have only been to the cape a couple of times very pretty but very busy.

I hope your weekend is wonderful and you are with the people you love.

Rain, Heat=Busy

I know I haven't posted in 2 weeks and when I look back I
can't think of any one thing but I can think of a hundred things.
Last weekend I headed to Maine to help a friend clean a summer rental. We treated ourselves to a very large lobster roll at the end of the day. yum!
But it was cold and rainy and when I got home husband had the fireplace going it was so raw.

By Wed when I had my women's group over for dinner.
it was 90. We hadn't gotten together since thanksgiving so everyone
was so happy to get together. I had 12 ladies here, very fun catching up.

Since I do not do 90's ( I hate hot and humid) but it did cooled off enough I could have my coffee on the porch before work and really enjoy it. Ahhh spring how I love you.

This would be a close up of B's nose she is picking and smelling flowers and her nose shows it. It was bright yellow from the dandelions. It's funny we see weeds and a child see a beautiful flower. It is all about the small things.
*****
My husband broke my washer by accident
and it took a week before it was fixed. I was left to go to
the laundry mat holy quarters! I haven't been in years and I was shocked what people have to pay to do laundry a week. I just washed and brought it home to dry and spent over 10.00
What if we had a big family???
****
So that is what I have been doing a little cleaning, a few runs to the laundry mat and hanging with B.

cold, Rainy, gloomy

Yes that is snow on the mountains! this picture was taken today.

But for some reason things are still blooming this is much prettier than this picture.

Since I have had greenhouse withdrawal I went to just walk around
(still to cold to plant outside) and treated myself to this topiary.
And a very sweet bee.
My rug hooking buddy made me this, I failed to show it last time.
Yes that is a wine cork!

On Mondays my treat to myself is a lemon poppy seed muffin
with a nice hot cup of coffee when I get settled at work.
So today I notice that there are calories listed.
What! why is the cheese danish 150 calories less than a muffin that has no streusel topping or frosting of any kind on it.Muffin plain and simple.
So I bought the danish thinking I would love it, but I really wanted the muffin
I am just baffled by that.
****
We are in the rain for the rest of the week with a stronger storm coming in this weekend. So I am home reading.
I just finished reading her newest I didn't care for it.
What are you reading??

Spring

Little pansy faces...

As you can see things are pretty bare
but things are popping!

Sunny sweet faces...

We have many ups and downs as far as weather.
From 80's to 40's but things are getting green.

And sweet smelling.

Yellows....

I bought some wool lately why I am not sure why as I am
hooking very little right now.

My daughter got this at a yard sale for 50 cents it is Susan Branch's newest one and only a year old.

And I found this sweet little book.

The pages are pictures of felted wool so sweet.
I hope you are all enjoying spring I have heard of snow in the west
brrr no thank you.

Gifts

So I promised to show you what my sweet hooking friend
Donna made for me! the larger piece is a zippered bag for my hooks etc. the little book in the front holds needles, safety pins, etc. and she even made the card!

And this amazing basket!!! she has more talent in her
little finger than I do in my whole body.

 hil

While at the hook in a lady named Faith gave each of us this
little mouse pincushion. She hand made each of them. So sweet I couldn't believe it how kind of her.

Then we have a wonderful gift bag swap and I got this!
another great basket and paper napkins. How lucky I am!

Last weekend a friend treated me to breakfast at a
wonderful place with all kinds of homemade bread.
We got talking about annadama bread. They didn't have any
sooo tonight I am making some, I will let you know how it comes out.

I am reading this book. It is about a boy who went into the woods of Maine
at 20 and was finally caught when he was 47.
It is true and very interesting Anyone else read it yet?
****
We are in the cold rainy weather after a couple of days of warm wonderful weather. I hope this turns everything green and summer like.
Have a great week.
