And That's A Wrap!

We headed over the mountains to my daughter's they were giving a festive holiday party. They were wonderful and booked us a hotel room for the night as snow was predicted.
She asked her dad to be Santa. Well, he gave it a shot. HO HO HO

And I think that makes me Mrs. Santa by proxy.
I think this is maybe the 3rd selfie I have ever taken lol.
My three favorite people our grand, our daughter, and our son in law. Sweet B had her high school friends there and they all had a picture with Santa so sweet.
Christmas day was sunny and very windy and cold.
We went to my daughter's and celebrated with my son in law's family also. There was a bet made last year and my son in law's sister lost so expensive champagne it was! We all got a taste what a luxury!
My Son in Law's father cooks an amazing rib roast with all the fixings. I brought home leftovers and the bones. Today I put the bones in the crockpot made stock and a beautiful beef stew.
Earlier in the week I made French butter. It is a bit of a process, but it is delicious. With the buttermilk left over I made biscuits to go with my stew. It is a perfect night for stew the temps never got above the single digits today. The woodstove is humming along in the basement; we are tucked in, well fed and cozy. My blessings are many.
And Santa well he is very very tired.
We have Miss kora for a few days while her family goes on a little birthday trip for my grand who is turning 15!!!! We were watching the sun rise and deciding if going outside at 1 degree was a good idea. No but a dogs gotta go.
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday just the way you like it. We are very cold and a bit of snow coming in again tonight.
                     Have a wonderful weekend.

Finding Christmas

For lots of reasons this year I am not in the Christmas spirit.
I am decorated and I had my wonderful women's group over this week.
The cards are in the mail and the gifts are wrapped.
I have watched all of my favorite Christmas movies.
I have baked cookies, fudge, and cranberry bread. That I made into bread pudding and wow was it good!!! Natashaskitchen.com
We even met family at a festive resturant for lunch yesterday.
We are celebrating Christmas day with our daughter, son-in-law, and grand. But I still am looking forward to it being over. I really dislike feeling like this way.

It is raining buckets and warm-ish but back to freezing weather tonight. So we will need ice skates soon.
I wish you all the Christmas spirit♡

A Little More Snow

We got a fluffy inch today. On top of what we have it's starting to pile up.
For the first time in my life I was successful at making peanutbutter fudge. Usually I have to eat the fudge I make with a spoon.

As most of you know I lost my sister in law this fall. This was her mother's recipe and she made it every Christmas.  So I decided to give it a try. Success!
This is a santa I made quite a few years ago. I just put some mini snowshoes in his pack this year.

And a few of my vintage santas.
And last but not least I made some gingerbread men. I made them from the molasses cookies recipe I found this year.

For some reason your comments are not going to my email. I will work on fixing that. I am sorry for not getting back to you, I did read every comment and thank you as always for your visit and comments.
Have a wonderful week.

More Snow

Snow again yesterday about 5 inches. I have shoveled and snow raked our porch roof. I think I can skip exercise class today. The winter seems long already.
After my shoveling I came in for coffee and a cranberry orange bread. This is the best recipe I have found you taste the cranberries it is not over whelmed with sugar.
More Christmas decorations.
He sits on the sofa with me.
I finished up more of my Christmas cards yesterday.
I also started taking an elderberry tincture a local woman makes to help boost my immune system. Tis the season for viruses.

I made this lamp shade out of old Christmas cards many years ago.

We are off to my grands band concert tonight.
   Have a wonderful week.

Pie!

There is something about a quiet house. The only sound you hear is the coffee perking.
The moon was still casting shadows when the sun started above the horizon.
I had time to read a bit and have a coffee while the sun rose.
We went to a festival of trees. It is a fund raiser for
scholarships for the college. I put plenty of tickets in a few of the trees and fingers crossed I will win one of them.
This tree a little boy was so excited about this tree and told me all about it. If I could of purchased this tree I would of to give to him. He was so sweet and excited. I do hope he wins it.
Cookies are baked and dropped off at where they needed to be. I hope everyone enjoyed them on the cookie walks. I decided to make a mincemeat pie.
My family was very English, and I had all the English goodies for the holidays. I married into a French-Canadian family. I learned all of their pies and goodies. My husband never much cared for mincemeat or a good fruit cake so over the 50 years I didn't get them much. This is the year! The pie turned out so yummy I have frozen 3/4th of it or I would eat the whole pie!
This is the stocking I just got last week. The mantle has my tree topper collection.
Feather tree with all of my small ornaments.
One of my handmade Santas.
The house is dry from the woodstove. So, I made a simmer pot of all wonderful smelling things, put it in a pot filled with water and let it simmer all day.

Today is Pearl Harbor Day. It is time for remembrances.
Back into the deep freeze starting tomorrow.
This weather is early it is usually in Jan or Feb.
So I think it will be a long one.
Have a great week!

Caution Long Winter Ahead

A very cold full moon. We are 14 F and falling with a very brisk wind.
I have been very busy baking for two cookie walks this weekend.
Believe it or not I rescued this roses still going after all this cold weather!
Still no replacement coffee pot so I dug out out our old percolator, good coffee!
I got some goodies at the thrift store in our senior center. A beautiful boiled wool hat! I have been looking for one.
I got 8 cake plates and bowls at our dump free store. Made in England I love the design.

My little cupboard with the wooden hinges, filled with vintage santas and reindeer.
Some of my favorites..
HO ho ho!
We live in the woods,no street lights. This is the moon lighting up our yard. The birch glow in this light.
         **********
We are tucked in all warm and cozy. We are very thankful that the oil man braved our steep snowy driveway today. We are all set for awhile now. Plus we have the wood stove going.
      Have a wonderful weekend!
