The Sounds Of Silence

Lately I have sat and hooked in silence, no TV, phones,Radio, or music
I can hear our grandfather clock ticking and the furnace click on and off but that is it. At first I found it very hard to sit for any length of time in silence ,but it has been getting easier and easier.  It is good for the soul now and then to settle with your thoughts.

As you can tell from the picture above we still have a lot of snow.
but very close to the house, where the dryer vent comes out, I found this growing yeah for green!

I am still working on the dreaded commission rug. I have never pulled out and put in so many times in one rug. GRRRRR I can not
wait for it to be done!

Today husband and I decided to go for a quiet lunch. We got all settled in and about 20 minutes later all these people came in with name tags and posters going up in the windows and bang we are in the middle of a political rally! Now it did not matter who it was or what party they were, we were looking for peace and quiet and a chance to just talk and enjoy the food. And guess where he stood the only door in! Trapped like rats! Finally I asked the bartender for a back door and they showed us out. a couple other people followed us out they were as in shock as we were.

Since we have such a large Easter celebration at our house we start early shopping for all the kids baskets for the big egg hunt. I hit the dollar store and did pretty well. And found these yummm I will not be going back to the dollar store soon as these are like crack I can not stay away from them!.

This morning I got up early and met my daughter and grand daughter for breakfast.A friend of my daughter has a sugar house and it was open house weekend so we wandered over there.
I purchased some syrup and some home made maple cinnamon rolls my treat for Monday morning for going to work.(I bribe myself with treats to go to work)
She also had a scavenger hunt so sweet B and I did that together. She had lots of great questions and B learned a lot about syrup.
So I will close with the one answer I knew. How many gallons of sap produce one gallon of maple syrup?
****
Have a great week!

I need to get away from the tv, but I do like music when I am creating, it stirs my imagination.
I never just sit and watch tv, I have to be working on something.
Not a place or time I would want to eat dinner, either. Sounds like a nice weekend and fresh maple syrup is the best, I do miss that too.

40 gallons of sap..yikes! We have a friend that gives us syrup and today I was going to give some to the kids since we can't possibly use up a gallon of syrup...then forgot to give it to them! We've had weird weather this weekend but not the snow you have. Hopefully better days are coming soon! Yes, silence is a good thing now and then and I'm sorry you were chased out of a nice lunch! I can't stand political anything anymore! Yes, give me sounds of silence!

I know it takes lots of gallons but I won't cheat and Google it...lol!
I LOVE silence. I rarely have noise in my house.
How disappointing about the lunch, but hopefully breakfast with daughter and Miss B made up for it.
Hugs :)

For me, silence is golden and I love and need silence. I try to stay away from loud crowds. How disappointing that your quiet lunch was spoiled by the political gathering. I love visiting a sugar shack but we haven't visited any for a long time. Like you, we still have lots of snow but tulips and daffodils are poking out next to the house. It's been a very long winter but March is already almost over and I'm ready to see grass.
Hugs, Julia

I empathize with the pain of hooking a commission. What makes it even worse is working with colors or design which is not something you would do for yourself.

So much for peace and quite and kudos to the bartender who helped you "out".

One time we had a rally outside our workplace..not fun at all. Sometimes I like to come home and just sit on my computer with nothing on. The silence is relaxing. Janice

I am so tired of political everything. I would have got up and left I think. I like to sit in silence and hook sometimes too. Its different at first but then it grows on me.
Commission rugs are hard. There is nothing so hard because I always second guess myself.
It sounds like you are having a wonderful almost spring. I hope the snow melts just not too fast. The dams here are filled to overflowing with all of the snow melting so fast. Have a lovely week.

Ahhhh GREEN!!! :-) I think the grasses and shrubs are just beginning to perk up around here....looking forward to getting outside and playing in the dirt soon! The quickest way for anyone to lose my attention is to interrupt a meal...the least that moron could have done was pay for everyone's lunch (that they spoiled)... I've always enjoyed silence...not absolute quiet....but breezes through trees, water trickling in a brook, songbirds....rustling of autumn leaves...I'm a firm believer that nature is what can make is all healthier....and today's technology is killing us...
Don't fuss too much with the commissioned rug....remember that you were asked to hook that person a rug because they admired YOUR style....so relax....take a deep breath...and pretend you are hooking it for yourself...:-)

I LOVE to work in silence. My best projects come from quiet time.
Dove Peanut Butter Eggs ??? That's kicking it up a notch.
Might have to try them.

My grandparents used to have a sugar house.
I don't remember the exact amount of sap to cooked down syrup. I just remember it seemed to take a looooooooong time for the sap to be thickened.
