It's All About The Berries...

Do you ever go into a weekend feeling like road kill?
This is how I felt on Friday I needed down time. Major down time.
(This is a gummy frog that was on the sidewalk outside of work)

Saturday was beautiful I walked around the garden.
did some house work and read on the porch.

Saturday afternoon we headed out for our first paddle of the season.

This little pond has islands that are famous for their blue berries.
I think husband ate more than saved but hey we were not that prepared to pick.

But pick we did! These are the little sweet lovely's

Yummm

We did see a pair of sweet loons..

And beautiful sights,

I made blueberry and peach pie...

And blueberry coffee cake to say I have had my quota of sugar would be an understatement.

And this is my Miss B. My daughter and her husband build a new house last year so this is their first summer in their new home and they have found major blueberry, raspberry and blackberry patches.
So Miss B has become a picking machine. She is waiting for her mixed berry muffins to come out of the oven my sweet baby.
Her mother always loved to pick too.

Well back to work after this week I have a few days off which is much needed.

I know I would love to live on a lake. Jack and I talk about it so you never know! Our blueberries are done. Our bushes are still young so hopefully they will produce better in a few years. Looks like you had a little down time so I hope your week is a good one!

I seem to never get any down time lately, always planning on it, but never happens, lol.
Looks like you had a nice weekend, relaxing and a paddle, I haven't been out much yet, just little jaunts.
Thinking about a trip in the fall, but with labor day later this year, means we would come up the next week to get a spot, wondering if the weather will still be nice? I was looking at Chicora, nice area for hiking and paddling and they have areas for dogs to play and sitting, but off of route 16, so not sure.

I used to pick blueberries, wash them, dry them and put on a cookie sheet in the freezer. When they had frozen well, I'd put the amount for muffins or pancakes in a freezer baggie. Had them all winter long. Sweet!!! Miss B, it growing into a lovely girl!!

Sorry you had a rough Friday but glad you could go to the little island to pick blueberries. You baking looks so delicious.
It won't be long before that cute Miss B. starts to bake her pickings. What a cutie.
Have a great week.
Hugs.
