The Recipe Box

As some of you may remember I bought this recipe box at
an antique store for 1.00 I have tried some of them with so so results.

Tonight we hit the jackpot with this one! It is called chicken crescent squares.
I roasted a chicken over the weekend and had some, ok a lot of chicken to use up.

It is a keeper for sure I will make some changes next time only to change it up
not because I didn't like it. I will put the recipe at the end of this post.

Tonight on my way out of work I saw this. I couldn't resist taking a picture
even though it was cold and blowing pretty hard.
Red skies at night.... into the deep freeze for the next two days.
****
This serves 8 I cut it in half for us
Mix together well
6 oz of cream cheese softened
4 Tablespoons of butter melted
4 Cups of chopped chicken meat
1/4 Cup of milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp celery seed
2Tbls. grated onion
2Tabls of pimento chopped(I didn't use this)
****
2) 8oz crescent rolls
keep 2 triangles together and roll out gently to try and make a square.
Making sure that the perforations are sealed
so you would get 4 squares per package of rolls
***
fill squares with a good helping of chicken mixture about 2+ tablespoons
pull all the ends to the top and seal (like a hobo bag.)
****
I brushed each package with olive oil and sprinkled with pepperidge farms
stuffing.
bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes
***
heat up a can of cream of mushroom soup with 1/3 cup of milk and drizzle over the cooked squares
***
I think for some of the changes I may put dried cranberries in the mix.
or maybe celery and a bit of garlic, it was very good and worth the try.
I also believe any left over meats could be used.

That sounds like a good recipe, I do loved creamed foods over biscuits. I can't eat the store rolls so I make my own biscuits. I watched a lady on tv who said the trick is to mix the batter with your hands and for rolling, and it does make them fluffier.

Wow, what a beautiful red sky. There's a saying that goes something like this: Red sky at night, sailors' delight, red sky in the morning, sailors take warning.

I'm glad that you found a recipe that you like. It's fun when that happens.
Stay warm and cosy.
Hugs,
JB
