Catching Up

Summer is slipping away quickly. The beginning of the summer I thought we would
float away but now the sun is out and we are trying to keep cool.

Lots of sweet tea and a blueberry pie helps, lots of time on the porch and lots
and lots of reading.

And lots of fun. Swimming in the lake with friends, parades, and movies. This is husband getting ready
for the 250 celebration of the town I work in. It is just a few miles from our house.

Bag pipers I don't know if you can see the little guy 3rd from the right.

An old ice truck that was handing out chunks of ice to the kids.

And of course a bike rider or two.

And then the foam. The main street was closed off and filled with wonderful wonderful
bubbles!!! Young and old alike just couldn't get enough! I was working or I would have been right in the middle of it. There was kids in their 20's just having a ball. I couldn't help but smile.

Until the rain came and washed it all away:(
I hope your summer is going well and you are enjoying every minute of it.
I am off to sit on the porch I have another book calling my name.
Tell me all about your summer.

It looks like a fun celebration and I was just looking at that online. I see they are doing fireworks tomorrow night. We are heading up early, hopefully and I want to try and get a paddle in to explore the area, then monday we can paddle around and across to rattlesnake.

I love the spirit of small towns and their celebrations. It looks like fun. But what is the tradition of the bubbles?? Never seen that before.
We are trying to stay cool too. Summer was slow arriving but has been making up for it with all the hot sunny weather.

My summer is lovely! Glad our heat and humidity are gone--at least for a few days.

I love parades, and this one looks very special. Also, bagpipers are great!

Our summer has been VERY rainy. Actually that is the way the year began. We already have practically as much rain as we receive in an entire year's time! The garden has been very wet, the blueberries are slow to ripen, and the humidity is not at all pleasant. That's our summer.:-) Nonetheless, we are thankful for good health and blessed to be where we are!

What a great parade! I love the bubbles...a super way to clean the streets! Ha! It was beastly hot and humid last week and the rains came back again Fri and Sat. after 4 days of sun. It's cooler now and the pool calls my name daily! I haven't made it to the farmer's market yet, but that's on the agenda and some more family are coming for a visit. This summer is flying by! Enjoy your books!

I love how your town stays nice and clean during the hot summer months. I've never seen that before. Congratulations on being so innovative and let the rain wash every thing away. Just so darn smart. I love it.

That blueberry pie is looking mighty delicious and I'd love to come over for a tiny piece.
It makes my mouth water.

I used to enjoy hearing our neighbour's son practice his bagpipes in the summer but he died tragically in a car accident and the bagpipes have been silent for a few yeas now, though I love the bagpipes so much, it always fills me with this memory of listening to this young neighbour playing is wonderful bagpipes outdoors in the summer.

Have a wonderful fun filled week.
Hugs,
JB
