There's A Storm A Coming!!!

There is a monster storm coming up the coast. We do not live

on the coast but every one is freaking out.

We live in the moutains about 1 1/2 away

I raked the yard and stacked wood we have extra water

and plenty to eat so we are good to go. I do not want to lose

power but if we do we do.

To everyone on the coast stay safe!

Battling The Creeping Crud....

 We spent last weekend with our amazing grand baby.

The weather was wonderful, we went to a church sale and a yard sale.

Miss B had the best finds. And as you can see she loves the U.S.A.

Or maybe she is saying enough of the phone calls let the voting begin already.

If you read only one book this year make it this one.

Why this book has stayed under the radar in the book world is

beyond me. If you liked the secret life of bees you will love love, love, this book.

I have been battling a bad cold from the the time we got back from babysitting.

and since I have to keep it away from husband I have been locked in

the spare bedroom and a mask on when I do make it out.

I am on the up side at this point.

On our way back from Miss B's (husband and I were in separate cars)

He found a bunch of free furniture. No I do not have pictures soon I hope

One piece is the sweetest dressing table with a the cutest mirrors very old and in great shape.

I stopped to help him load and off we went with a full truck.

Have a great weekend all they can talk about here is the perfect storm

we will not see any of it maybe a bit of rain. But oh boy the hype behind this.

 

And The Winner Is....

My neighbors have so kindly offered us several pumpkins

I chose a small one on the right that I plan on baking a

Shepard's pie in and this really cool one we all think it crossed with a

zucchini.

The sun finally has been shining so I dug up my dahlia's, They can

not winter over in this area so I keep them in a cool spare bedroom.

I started out with one tuber from a yard sale and here we are lots and lots of dahlias!

Of curse some raking and yard work!

The leaves have mostly gone by but lots of gold left.

When I came home this evening there had been a carrot fairy here.

yummmmm.

A Couple Of Finds AND A GIVE AWAY!

I found this large bean pot or cookie jar.

I have a pie plate that I got from longerberger baskets that

matches what is on the bottom of the pot. It was very dirty and covered

in paint splatter. I cleaned it up but it still has paint.

I like the the simplicity of it.

I also picked up a couple of books all of this from a thrift store.

so I will put my feet up and watch the debate tonight while thumbing through my books.

Now on to the give away! I will repost a picture when I can get outside

these are two wooden chargers great for putting on the wall or to make your

table pretty, There is also a spiced pumpkin candle, and a packet of recipe booklets

from during and just after the depression.

Here is a little display of them. The egg one should come in handy for all of you with chickens, there is one for left overs, cranberries, etc it is a great fun assortment.

More Rugs And This Makes Me Laugh

More rugs from my weekend, this is from the fair. I loved this rug of course

the subject but the colors were great in person and the braiding around it was

just great. this was a pretty large rug.

This was a fun wall hanging. It looks like all of these animals are on the driveway to the house.

This rug has great color I like the two little( I think) mice on the wall.

The way this rug was lighted at the show I couldn't tell what this rug was

I put the camera up and it is a wonderful sheep.

I wish I had turned this around but it is a stone wall with pumpkins.

 A great job on the stone wall but what I wanted to show how

this person finished the edges, it is an extension of the rug.

Now for what makes me laugh. I can't help it I know it is stupid but it cracks me up.

It is the queen, her purse is a solar panel and she waves.

a lot of entertainment for 1.00

Rugs, A Wedding, More Rugs, Miss B,...

I got my closest friend out to a small but very well done rug show at a historic mill

I love this rug. lots of background but the simplicity it wonderful.

I did not keep track of who's rug etc I am sorry to say. but this was just wonderful.

After that we headed to Maine.

My nephew and his very sweet bride got married on Sat

night. It really was a wonderful time.

Then bright and early Sun morning we headed for the Sandwich fair.

we had some time before we met up with Miss B so we went in the arts barn.

this is so wonderful in person. you can see the antique card it came from on the far

right.

While this is not my taste it was very well done.

and it was done by Jane McGowan Flynn the grand daughter

of Pearl McGowan. 

Ok rugs aside it is time to go to the good old sandwich fair

with my favorite girl.

we won the water balloon game she got a teddy bear. We went on 2 rides

and Gammie bought her a helicopter to push along in the crowd and over the back

of their heels of the people in front of her.

So it was a great day.

And on top of all of this excitement we got a new flat screen TV, I know ,I know we are late

coming to the the TV thing but for a bit less than 200.00 for a 32" some fancy cord from my son-in-law that I

installed with my breath held and we are good to go. We have our feet up watching the game.

while reading the free Sunday paper we got at the fair. A great afternoon is underway.

Today Is Our Anniversary

37 years how can that be??? I am so not old enough.

Miss B skyped us to wish us Happy Anniversary which was so darn cute.

when I got home I had four little packages waiting for me.

such great gifts. I think I will keep him.

Our trees are changing quickly now if it would just stop raining.

I brought in a bouquet of the flowers before the rain they look great but not sure what the rest will look like.

We are looking forward to going to the fair and seeing Miss B. this weekend.
