Important Things

With wind chill we should be minus 28 f. In the morning. Now that is cold!
While I was away husband bought shades for our family room. Not for privacy (no one to see in lol) but to keep the heat in and I dare say it works! When we put the shades up in the morning you can feel the cool air trapped there.
Bravo to brave oil delivery drivers. When he backed down this snow covered, steep driveway. We held our breath when it came time to leave. Not a problem at all!
It gave me hope to see seeds in the store. The days are getting longer.
Husband has to stay healthy for his surgery this coming Wed. So 1.00 puzzles from the thrift store is just the ticket to stay home and and tucked in until then.
Cards from friends with encouraging messages mean everything.
   ****************
Life is stressful, I will take these next few days. To do things that are relaxing and that make me happy. A little painting, hooking, stitching, and making cookies for a young plow guy's birthday. Who always has to plow on his birthday.
  Have a wonderful weekend.

Time In Maine

There is a lot of this going on today.
I made soup and chili yesterday so not much               cooking today.
The birds were filling up before the storm started. It has started now and we have seen the town plow go by at least once already.
I had some stale bread ends, so I made a small bread pudding. Very tasty for breakfast.
I had signed up for a hook in in Maine. Well husband had his issue and I was going to drop out.
My daughter and husband really pushed for me to go. So, I went a bit late and came home early. I did get some time for some fun. I was very glad I went. Husband did fine without me for a few days.
I did not get pictures of other rugs I left before the throw down. But this is what I am working on. I will be glad to get this done. It is a pattern by Joanne Page.

While away I did find a thrift store. I found this not sure what it was originally meant for, but it works great with my brushes.
This storm is a long, drawn-out ordeal we are supposed to get snow far into Monday. with 12 to 18 inches. It has been so cold we started at 4 below 0 this morning. I keep hearing fluff factor. Our poor highway crew in this little town is a group of 4, very long hours for them.
We are good tucked in with the woodstove humming and the cupboards full.
        GO PATRIOTS!!!!

All Tucked In

It was a cooking weekend. I dug out my 50 year old cookbook (a wedding present)
And made bread. One white bread in my Pullman pan the other....
I made into cinnamon bread. Next time more filling. I did add cardamom this time and I will add more of that next time.
I also made a vegetable soup from some fresh veggies I needed to use up. Not husband's favorite but I loved it. I froze a couple of quarts for later.
We are waiting for our second snow storm this weekend. I always start the day with room temp water with elderberry tincture to hopefully boost my immune system. There is a lot going around out there.

The patriots are playing my nerves are shot lol.
Have a wonderful healthy week ❤️

Close To Home

I want to thank you all for the lovely encouraging words they helped more than you know. What an amazing community here♡
The date for husband's surgery is Feb 4th. Until then he is on a soft diet. Which is a struggle. But AI said banana bread is in that category. So I made a loaf today. Husband was thrilled. A small piece with a glass of water for dessert.
I also made molasses cookies. I froze most of them but they are soft also. A nice treat with tea.
I mixed up this scottish 5 spice today. I put some in my banana bread, it tasted great. I will use it on oatmeal etc. It is from
Roving Haggis on FB. I have tried several of her recipes and they are always great.
I have painted a bit. Very relaxing. I have also been to my 3 exercise classes this week. It has helped with the stress. It seems the older I get the worse it is.
Not much happening this weekend except football. I may also pick up my rug hook again.
Have a wonderful weekend.

What A Week

Husband was admitted to the hospital Wed. Night and just got home this afternoon. He will have surgery in the near future. So much anxiety for both of us. So for tonight we are settled in and waiting for the Patriots game.
The only thing I have to share is I made onion soup mix. The packages keep going up. I have tried it and it works great! I made a gravy with it,not soup.
So keep my husband in your thoughts. Surgery should be in a few weeks.
Today's quote.
What's broken can be mended. What hurts can be healed. And no matter how dark it gets, the sun is going to rise again.
   Have a wonderful week!

Mocking Me

We were having snow every other day. It felt like my snowpeople I keep out were mocking me. I think it is time to put them away.
I got a couple of thrifty finds. A roll of this wool edging from Germany. I think it is pretty old. I am putting it on my jeans not sure how it will wash but willing to try it.
I also got this brand new grater for 4.00.
I always grate my own cheese.
And husband finished a puzzle.
It has turned warm and melted the driveway nicely.
Not sure what the next few days holds but we will be watching the Patriots on Sunday

A Wonderful Start To The Year

0
I purchased this book at a church sale. I have enjoyed the daily quotes.
Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going. by Jim Ryun
Sat. my sweet friend and I took a good walk down to the frozen lake.
While it was good, cold, and icy it was nice to get out in the fresh air.
We both used our micro-spikes. They worked like a charm. We hit some pretty icy patches.
After we went to a local thrift. 2 ott lights! One I will keep one goes to my grand.
I also purchased a dress, pants, top, a pair of shorts for husband and a couple of odds and ends for a grand total of 20.00! I love thrifting.
I participated in 12 magical nights. You write down 13 things you would like to work on,on separate papers. Starting Dec 21 you choose one but don't look at it. You can rip it up,burn it, or how ever you want you do that until Jan 2nd the one left is what you work on for the year. Mine was paint more. I follow Andrea Nelson on Instagram. She does little lessons.
On Friday my grand Sweet B and I went shopping for her birthday. Of course one stop was a thrift store. She bought pjs that were long sleeve and long pants much to large for her. Voila this is what she has started!! She still has work on the bottoms but she is amazing!!!

This post has gone long thank you for getting to here.
PS. My slippers in the last post are LLBeans. This is my 2nd pair the other pair I had for several years.

ICY

We got an ice storm..
Which knocked out power to our neighborhood for most of the day.
Several of us checked on those that had no generators and offered warmth and internet if needed.
We have a very
steep driveway what a nightmare!  Yesterday husband had a drs appointment in the city. It is over an hr drive for us. So we left early had lunch and got to the appointment an hr early and they took him right in!!! Yahoo.
And this is how we celebrated New Years Eve.
I WISH YOU ALL GOOD HEALTH AND GREAT JOY IN THE NEW YEAR,!!
