This morning, I left the house early for a haircut, but I had errands along the way. I tried to pay our property taxes at the town hall it is closed on Thur. Just when did that start?? I dropped some mail at the post office and headed to get my hair cut. I was early so I walked over to a coffee shop. I got a small basic ice coffee it was almost 4.00!!! can you tell I never buy coffee out? I was shocked, I see people walking around with those giant coffees just how much do they pay out for those in a week???
Since my hairdresser is in the same town as a favorite thrift store, I took a spin through. I got the talbots top and the book for 3.50.
And on the way home I stopped at a church sale and got the tablecloth for 1.00. It will look great on the porch this summer.
Put an elastic round it and use it like a flower frog genius!
Today was one of those days that was just perfect. Warm with a good breeze and sunny lots of sun! We have had so much rain it is so good to see the sun.
So, we figured out what is eating my garden. The groundhog was caught on our game camera. We have new neighbors, and they have a dog, so he has decided our house is a better place to be ugg. It has been feeling a bit like the movie Caddy Shack around here lately. I hear husband talking to himself and plotting ways to get the varmint.
(this is not my picture)
A new have a heart trap has shown up today.
My geraniums are starting to shine. Remember I started with
just bare sticks you can see them here. I did lose a couple of the plants this year but what kept going is doing great. ( I have a few pots of them now)

Every night I have been checking for fireflies well last night was the night. There were hundreds of them in our back yard. It was so magical and amazing. Then we saw the moon coming up through the trees bright bright orange. With the fireflies and the moon, it truly was like nothing I have ever seen before.
Have a great week
I hope you find your own magic.

Your friend was brilliant with using that doily as a flower frog!!! I never buy coffee out but if I was in NEED of caffeine I'd probably buy mine at McD's. Am sure it wouldn't cost $4 there.
Oh! A groundhog! We have moles that destroy our place. We've tried everything to get rid of them but we live in the country so...there's that. I understand the shock of the price of your coffee but I think that is cheap! Around here, you will pay upwards of $5.00. Unless you go to a sit down restaurant and still then it will be $3.00 per cup with no free refills. Crazy but I am guilty of stopping and treating myself to a latte or cappucino and a scone. Not often, though.
Hope ya'll catch your groundhog!
Grace & Peace,
Pam
I loved your description of the fireflies and the moon coming up. It was an amazing moon. So you have one of those ground hogs. I have never seen one in person so I can only imagine. All of your finds are so nice. I never buy coffee out so I didn't know they were that expensive either. Lovely photos today.
I hope you get that groundhog! We had a raccoon show up here. We've never had one here near the house before. He left since we offer no food outside like the neighbors who have chickens! Our Maine trip is July 12-19. We're heading for Portland I guess. My nieces are driving but if we were anywhere near you we would stop and say hi! Not sure how far from you we'd be. Anyway, I love your flowers and I'm going to try to keep my geraniums like that this winter. Have a good week!
You find the best things at the thrifts. Love how you did the doily in the vase, makes for a pretty display. I cannot believe how big Miss B is getting, so grown up. We are in the hot days, and more rain. Hoping we can start camping soon.
You had a good day out!
Groundhogs are cute, but not when eating your plants.
We usually get fireflies but I haven't seen any here yet. I bet that was a magical sight!
I remember back when I was working-the last location I worked at (phone company was constantly closing offices and moving us) had a new coffee shop-I was shocked at the prices too and was many years ago.
You find great items at the thrift stores-so fun too-groundhogs-ugh they can do a lot of damage-good luck catching him.
Happy Friday-raining here again early morning
I am not a coffee drinker, but I am always gobsmacked at the line going in to Dunkin Donuts. There is usually 10-15 cars in line!
Clever idea on the doily.
Your geraniums look great. My two winter survivors are about 1/4 that size.
Happy Friday the 13th.
An Ann Cleeves book for 3.50? Or was that for both? In either case, a great buy. Poor you and the groundhog. I went through the experience of one burrowing under the house once. Not fun. So cute and such a pain sometimes. Coffee/pastry shop prices have exploded. It's easier to do it at home (but sometimes not so much fun!)
Sorry you have the groundhog to deal with.
But thank you for the laughs reading your husband talking to himself.
"Caddy Shack," is a favorite movie.
I would love to photograph a groundhog. It would be a treat to even see one. Our youngest granddaughter used to think the fireflies were fairies. So cute!
Well I'm glad summer found you and the rain has stopped - I absolutely love the photo of the curtains blowing in the breeze. It seems we now have your rain....an entire week of it (over an inch just yesterday) and the forecast is showing it continuing for the entire next 7 days save one. (It had been just the next 3 days and they just updated it to the next 7.) We.are.WET! Worse, I think, than the rain even is the cold. It's mid-June and mid-afternoon here and our "feel like" temp is 45ยบ. Seriously??? Great finds as always. This is the weekend when our part of the township does its rummage sales and I had thought I'd make a concerted effort to hit a few this year. Ha! Not with it pouring rain. I feel bad for all those who took the time to set up. Even if they are under cover, I am sure they won't get much traffic. Good luck with the groundhog. I have a weasel living in my pool landscape rocks. I don't even wanna know what he's doing.
If the have-a-heart trap doesn't get rid of the groundhog maybe you'll have to get a dog of your own. Or even borrow one :)
I know what you mean about the price of coffee. It's hard to believe some people routinely get one ( I'm thinking of one of my sons).
i still love my deer but not as much since they started invading my gardens. but why?? there are still plenty of goodies for them to eat in nature without eating our beautiful flowers. we had a day like you described. the other day it was a 12, the perfect day. now the forecast is 7 days of rain...i hope i have enough yarn and supplies!! you write well, your descriptions make one feel as if they are seeing it!! have a great weekend!!
Love that you found the critter. Sorry he's in your garden though. Looks cute though!!!! Yes, drinks out can be cha-ching. In fact, I'm having one now. Though it's a fruity one. Still costly. We took a spin around a thrift store today. A new one for us. Very messy. Smelly too. Still fun to take a twirl though. Happy Weekend.
Fire flies already? I'll have to take a look tonight.
So with us it was a woodchuck. Never had them before but this was the year! BIG have a heart trap and lots of cantaloupe! I hope he’s enjoying his/her new surroundings far far away in the woods! Your geraniums are lovely. I’ve taken your advice on wintering them over and have had amazing results. So much money it has saved me, thanks!
I love fireflies. It is still too cold here. We have them for about a week over the 4th of July. I refuse to buy coffee at a coffee shop. I cannot spend that much unless it is a real treat. Even then I cannot enjoy it.
Oh my, a ground hog in your garden! That would have startled me. Your red geraniums are pretty. I always have to stop for red flowers and red birds. The fireflies sound enchanting. When my daughter lived in Georgia, she used to see the fireflies all the time in her back yard. I like your doily. I only have one, and it belonged to my grandmother.
