Hooked

My mother always said "There is more to life than house work."

Sat I drove in horrid rain to get to a hook in. I met up with my partner in crime and we had a great day. The drive home was better.

Sunday I picked up Sweet B and we headed for pedicures. I so could use one of those once a month this summer. It felt so good.

The past few days the weather has been cold and rainy. Today it is starting to turn around. I am with Sweet B until tomorrow. Then back to finish up yard work.

Getting Out The Rake

Our weather has finally turned a corner. I uncovered some of my herbs I wintered over. I have had no luck getting French tarragon through the winter. But voila!!! I mulched the heck out of it and turned a pottery pot upside down over it and it came through yahoo!

It is one of my favorite herbs. 

My motto is to get rid of stuff. I have seen what the neighbors are going through to move into assisted living. I took a suite case full last week now I will pass on some of my garden do dads I have to many.

We have had a very busy piliated woodpecker. 

I have never seen anything like it. Luckily the tree is nowhere near the house.

And this is the other side of the same tree. 

Last week while walking with my sweet friend I saw this fence.

I just love it, but I sure would not want to maintain it.

I was supposed to go to rug class today, but I decided to stay home and get a jump on the raking. Husband cannot help he is having some back issues thankfully they called, and he has an appointment. 

Sat I am off to an all-day hook in. It is supposed to rain Sat so a good day for hooking. Sunday I am headed for my grands to stay a few days while her parents go away. Ya me!

Happy Easter

Friday I took a very long walk with my sweet friend. And at the end we stopped for lunch.

            

Sat afternoon my daughter son in law  and Sweet B came to stay overnight. It was a lovely warm night we sat on the porch in our pjs. It was so relaxing.

This morning Sweet B got up to a full Easter Basket.  Poor kid was not feeling well and they left before the rest of the family came. 

We had an egg hunt lots of food.

And it was nice to see everyone.

We were missing those not there 

But the weather was good and the kids were happy. 

I hope your Easter was a great one.

Ice Out

I can always hope today was pretty cold with snowflakes falling.

Nothing stuck thank goodness. 

It is very late for ice out to be called on both of the big lakes here.

It is called when you can go from one end of the lake to the far end of the other. Or on Winnipesaukee when the boat the Mt Washington can call on all its ports.  

I have been working on getting Easter, all organized it looks like 18 of us this year including 5 littles. Once the kids hit high school they are out of the egg hunt

. Sadly, this is my grand's last family egg hunt ohhh it almost hurt to write that! One of my favorite parts of Easter is having my Sweet B and family overnight the night before. Such a nice time to be together, play some games before the rest of the family shows up. 

More watercolor big mistake with this one but at least I got to sit down and paint today. 

We have had a couple of nice days this week I got to have lunch on our porch and read a bit.

Husband had a sleep test last night I promised not to take pictures of him all wired up. We will know more later. 

We went to Home Depot they had a sale on 

mulch 2.00 a bag. I do not do a lot, but I have some areas I like to have mulch. I got 15 bags, so I have some work ahead of me.

What The H***

We got about 3 inches of heavy wet snow on Saturday. 

By this morning it was all gone. Thank goodness!

Our fist sighting of the bear this year. He is a big bear but we both think it is the same bear that has been here the past few years. He is just older and much bigger. 

This cloudy morning, I made crepes for breakfast.

I needed to take a very quick trip to Wal-Mart. This is the view from our Wal-Mart you can see how heavy the cloud cover is. 

It held off raining, so I was able to get a walk in and I met a new neighbor moving in.  A nice young family, I am so pleased there will be young families in this little neighborhood. 

I worked on my rug this weekend. Not sold on the garden I hooked

but I will leave it for now. 

More watercolor painting. I am enjoying the process.

All Quiet, Sadly

I have leaves on my geraniums! 

Husband had an eye appointment today. I took a nice walk and read a book until he came out. 

I started my rug not much happening right now. I just wanted to get to as many spots as possible so I could have Michelle's help.

After class we stayed and had drinks and snacks with Pam.

Center our sweet Michelle. If you ever get a chance to get a class with her, take it! do not hesitate!!!!

Class picture. We had the best table we laughed and told stories until we could not laugh anymore. What a joy it was. 

Of course, my sweet friends came and stayed with me, so it was fun night and day. I miss them so much but how blessed I was to have such wonderful friends and such laughter.

A yahoo to my sweet B she got a 98.4 on a very hard algebra test!!!!

Not much this weekend going on, so I catch up on laundry and work on my rug a bit. I will also be around to visit and catch up on emails.

Friends, Fun, Food, and Laughter

I got this insert in a newspaper many many years ago. 

It has wonderful recipes, but the best one is for whoopie pies. 

If you do not know what a whoopie pie is it is two chocolate cake like cookies with a cream cheese filling. 

When I was a stay-at-home mom, I would make these for my daughter and husband to take in their lunches. 

I am having a love hate relationship with my watercolors.

Someone I follow said learning watercolors is like learning an instrument. Just keep trying and trying. It made me feel a bit better. 

We have had snow and sleet and lots of rain. So, it was a happy surprise to see some green coming through the ground.

This is the rug I am going to work on with Michelle Palmer starting tomorrow.

The house is clean, and I am looking forward to the next few days of hooking, friends, food and laughter lots of laughter.

Warning Boring Post Ahead

I do not run but I do walk abut 3 hilly miles a day. I am trying to get my stamina back after a winters rest. There are times when I am so tired I wonder if it is all worth it. (It is)

See that white thing?? That smoke detector is on the cathedral ceiling of our bedroom. It was beeping so time to change the backup battery. That takes a ladder so while my husband was up there, I gave him a duster and a rag.  voila clean!

In a very short time, my germaniums are starting to green up.

I told you boring I have been cleaning and planning the rug I am going to hook in Michelle Palmer's class next week. 

Tomorrow, we have more crappy weather coming in it just never seems to stop. 

Now to figure out what we are having for dinner. We shared a steak and cheese sub for lunch, and we are both feeling pretty full.
