To Many Irons In The Fire

This rug is giving me fits!!! If I ever finish this one, I will be very lucky. This is the 3rd sky I have tried to put in, and I hate it. Out it comes.

And I am stitching and also trying to read this book. The book is very good, but I am slow at it as I have so many other things I think I need ok want to do. ( I need to get off my phone too)

I went to the local church sale this morning. The last of the year.
I paid 5.00 for all. They were raising money for the heat for the winter for the church.

I guess I will have a cup of chai tea and think about that darn sky.
****
We are finally getting some wonderful rain today. Just the sound of it is soothing. But it must have brought down limbs as we are on the generator right now and have been for a while. So thankful for that generator on days like this.
This morning, I had a foot Dr appointment. He felt I was on the right track, and the shoes were the issue. He gave me some ideas of what to do to try and not get it again.
****
For some reason I cannot follow some of the other blogs. It kicks me out. I will try to keep visiting and I will try to find out what to do about it.
Have a wonderful rest of the week.

Written In The Sand

Thursday late afternoon my sweet friend and I met at her beach house in Maine for a couple of days. (Sun rise)

I am not sure what creature did this, but it is amazing. It was only where the little pools of water had dried out.

There were lots of these little shore birds. Not sure if they were sand pipers. They were so fun to watch, and they stayed well after dark.
Since my husband was at home, I decided we all needed a treat.
We do not get donuts often and they were tasty.
But they have become an expensive treat glad I don't do it often.

We went to a primitive store that the woman makes the bulk of the items. I am trying to not bring more stuff into the house, but I could not resist.

Since I had the witch sign, I needed to put my witch up on the porch.
We are starting to look spooky around here boo!

Today we went to a fun fair. It was put on by a very talented artist.
And she had very fun and funky ideas.
This was poems while you wait, such a fun idea.

Great music!

A great back fence, tarot reader, and great crafts people.
Filled me with ideas only to come home settle in to watch a horrid football game and read. I need to get out of my funk!

I heard rain was coming in this week finally. Tuesday just a bit but Wednesday a lot more.
****
My foot is finally back to normal, and I have figured out what the issue is. I bought a new pair of walking shoes. They are comfortable but somehow, they cause an issue with my right foot putting it into plantar fasciitis. That pain was getting the best of me so glad it has resolved itself. But now I have to figure out a new pair of shoes.
I hope your week is a wonderful one!

Busy Few Days

Monday night I hosted my women's group. Everyone brought appitizers it was so nice to catch up.
Tuesday we headed for a matinee to see "Downton Abby The Final Chapter." Fabulous!
Today I got a new washer delivered. Oh the things that thrill us lol!
I went to my first fall rug hooking class today. Nice to get back to it. I also made a weight watchers pumpkin pie...umm just ok
This evening I met a friend for dinner out. We enjoy our outing so much. We put our heads together to plan more fall hikes.
Lots of bus tours in our area leaf peeping a bit early.
          ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Enjoy the rest of your week!

Crisp

Our mornings have been cool and crisp in the low 40s, warming up to the mid 70s.
The leaves are turning fast because we are so dry. While the days are so beautiful we are in desperate need of rain. And this week we are going to touch 80s but still cool off at night.

And with fall comes football. My grand is in the band.
We watched part of the game just to see her play. She is a freshman, so it is all new and exciting for her.

And it is Sunday, so the Patriots are playing.
The game is still going on and they are struggling.

Husband wanted something sweet. I had a can of peaches in fruit juice. I made a peach cobbler. I would prefer fresh peaches, but this is what I had on hand, and it was quick and easy.
I used an 8x8 pan
350 for 40 to 45 minutes.
1/2 cup of butter I melted it right in the baking pan while the oven was preheating.

Mix together
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of brown sugar
(you can add 1/2 cup of white sugar if you want it sweeter)
1 cup of milk
2 tsp of baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
I used a pumpkin spice mix but use what you like.
(1 tsp)

1 can of peaches do not drain!

Pour the flour mixture on top of the butter (do not mix)
Then scoop the peaches with the juice and put all over the top.
Bake.
It is great with whipped cream while still warm!
I have changed it a bit, but I got the basic recipe
from lilluna.com

I got these 3 books from my local dump store.
I am a 1/3 through the midnight library and I am loving it!!!
I used to read Jodi Picoult all the time but gave up with the novel on school shooting. But I will give her a try again.

And I am stitching. But I have to get back to rug hooking soon.
****
I got into a bone builder class at the senior center yahoo there was a wait list. I also do a yoga class there.
I am walking but my foot is still bothering me just not as bad.
Tomorrow I am hosting my women's group. I am so looking forward to seeing everyone!
Have a wonderful week!

Just One Of Those Days..

When the sky could not be bluer, or the weather better.
Some of my plants have survived the dry heat of summer.
This is the kind of day you dream of all through the horrid heat of summer.
              ***********
It has been cool enough to bake. I usually can not make brownies you either eat them with a spoon or they are dry as dust. Voila! I made brownies from scratch!
And last but not least I am trying to break my addiction to paper napkins and towels.
              ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
I am dealing with plantar fasciitis. It hurts and that is what I get for ramping up my exercise I guess.
                ********
My daughter's birthday is this weekend. Just how did she get into her 40s so quickly???
     Have a great week!

Mainly Rustics

A dear friend just bought a lovely store in Maine called Maine Rustics and we were invited to the grand opening.
I purchased a few things for future gifts. But this was not something I have ever seen before.
It's a fountain and a light. Runs on batteries. I used it in our bedroom last night. I really like it and it can work on a timer.
I have pulled out some fall and I could not resist a bit of Halloween.
We are truly in fall weather it never got above 65 today and we did get a bit of rain.
But ohh the peepers are in fine form!
           Have a wonderful week!

Cooking Weather

Yesterday I made a quiche a very delicious quiche!

I used puff pastry for the crust. I have lots of Tarragon in my garden,
it is a keeper. If my husband liked mushrooms I would have thrown in a handful of those.

With the left-over puff pastry, I made an apple tart for dessert.
No real recipe just an apple sliced thin with sugar and spices.

These Scottish rolls were amazing! I would give the recipe, but it is all in grams and to convert it is not precise. One conversion is .88 of a cup. I have a kitchen scale I use.

I made meatballs and sauce with some whipped ricotta on the top for an appetizer. I froze several bags of meatballs for future use.

And because I read that thyme in honey can be used
for sore throats or cold symptoms. So, I am going to give it a try.
Take a tsp straight or put it in tea. Let's hope I never have to use it.
******
The two-person, gingerbread recipe came from blog
The English kitchen

2TBS of granulated sugar
2TBS of room temp butter
1 large egg yoke
1/4 cup of molasses
2/3 sifted flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp cardamom
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/8 salt
1/4 cup of hot water.
oven to 350 degrees 5x7 (or what works for you) greased pan
30 minutes
I mixed the wet and then the dry and put them together.
I kept the hot water until last and whipped it in.
My one tip is at the end of cooking and watch it so not to overcook it.
Let it cool a bit. It was delicious!

We had a liner put down our chimney, sealed, and a cap put on to keep out the rain and snow. Not cheap but very much worth it.

My poor gardens are drying up I try to water sparingly as we are on a well. These little yellow flowers are from my aunt who died a few years ago at 97 and they were from her mother's garden. (my grandmother)
She called them golden glow. Not sure that is the true name of them but that is what they will be as long as I am here. I thought I lost them all and voila here they are this year!!
The weather has warmed up a bit 80 but still dry and a breeze now and then. Hopefully rain coming in Thursday night.
Have a great rest of your week.
