Our weather has finally turned a corner. I uncovered some of my herbs I wintered over. I have had no luck getting French tarragon through the winter. But voila!!! I mulched the heck out of it and turned a pottery pot upside down over it and it came through yahoo!
It is one of my favorite herbs.
My motto is to get rid of stuff. I have seen what the neighbors are going through to move into assisted living. I took a suite case full last week now I will pass on some of my garden do dads I have to many.
We have had a very busy piliated woodpecker.
I have never seen anything like it. Luckily the tree is nowhere near the house.
And this is the other side of the same tree.
Last week while walking with my sweet friend I saw this fence.
I just love it, but I sure would not want to maintain it.

I was supposed to go to rug class today, but I decided to stay home and get a jump on the raking. Husband cannot help he is having some back issues thankfully they called, and he has an appointment.
Sat I am off to an all-day hook in. It is supposed to rain Sat so a good day for hooking. Sunday I am headed for my grands to stay a few days while her parents go away. Ya me!
I hope that the sun is shining on you, and you are enjoying spring.

That is one crazy woodpecker. I bet the tree is doomed 😳
I, too, continue to purge every day. I took about a dozen Annalee Christmas decorations to guild today and was thrilled that one of the hookers collects them and took them all. If not, they were going to the thrift store tomorrow.
Usually I am excited to get in the yard to get the beds in shape, but this year I am just dreading it. I have done a bit but have a long way to go. Some days I think a condo sounds great, but no way could I fit all my crap…er I mean stuff…in one.
Hopefully hubby can get some answers to his back issue 🙏
Have fun at your hook in and spending time with Miss B.
That Pileated Woodpecker certainly kept busy. I used to grow several herbs ! sweet basil, Rosemary (my favorites), lemon balm and a mint which I cannot seem to get rid of now. Sadly tho, the rabbits devoured the basil and the rosemary got too woody. Perhaps I should buy a pot of Rosemary and grow some in the house just so I can rub my fingers on the leaves and smell them, lol.
The weather has changed here too, Bob had the rake out today!
We have a pileated woodpecker here too. He's been tearing apart a fallen log in the back of our property. Yours has ours beat though!
Have fun on Saturday.
Well, yay on the French tarragon! I've never been able to weather over any herbs, although I never actively tried. I did have some oregano that came back several years but it became invasive and I ended up ripping it all out last year. I don't think my herbs - or any other plants - are going to stand a chance with the rabbits again this year. It's already a bumper crop. There's one nest with 6 littles right outside my back door. There is a woodpecker here too but it's across the hedge row in the neighbor's woods so I haven't seen what it's done...but it sure has been busy for a long time already. Enjoy your hooking day and stay with Miss B!
Rainy days, I love them for crafting. Hope his back feels good soon and I'm with you on getting rid of stuff. It's just so nice not to have extra crap that we don't need/want anymore. How did your racking go?
I have never seen anything like that tree. What a busy woodpecker! Raking is fun for about an hour then not so much. Good luck with the rug. It is harder to do projects when the weather is good.
What an awesome fence wondering if that was hand crafted by a wood worker. we have the pileated woodpeckers too they are amazing to watch. It is amazing how much we all collect over the years-hope I never need to go into assisted living ugh. enjoy your spring weather
Lots to look forward to…Enjoy!
Your resident pileated woodpecker is an over achiever for sure. Have a wonderful hooking day!

Too bad for the tree 😟 after the woodpecker went to town in a manner of speaking. Raking was somewhat enjoyable back when we were homeowners, but not missed in the least. Glad the tarragon survived.
I wonder if someone will nest in your tree. All it needs is a little straw or moss!
I love trees and hate what that woodpecker did to it. My motto is to get rid of stuff too - for lent I threw away or got rid of 40 things.
Glad for you that tree is not near your house because that tree is not going to stand. Must be full of something that woodpecker likes. We have been hearing woodpeckers off in the distance here too. So very glad for you that your tarragon wintered over this year. Janice
WoW!!! that is a huge hole in that tree....too sad. but it is nature, the circle of like, maybe the tree will live!!
That's one very energetic pileated woodpecker!!!
We have woodpeckers here, but I've never seen anything like your tree!! I guess the little dude gets points for overachieving! Enjoy time with Miss B! I love the Spring but oh the weeding is a chore! Have a good rest of your weekend!
