My Winter Of Discoveries

I was gifted some tea this week. The fortune on the tag was interesting.

I tried making paper.
I like nothing about the process. This will be it for me.

My husband made a few of us flower presses.
I have learned I need to select bright colored flowers.

At my watercolor class she wanted us to relax, be free, and enjoy the process.

Relaxing and just going with the flow is not the easiest thing for me.

I have decided I will paint at least one page a day.
Today I did a few extra. I am enjoying painting, and most of it will not see the light of day.

I am still working on hooking. I am not sold on the light purple.
I have made some new friends this winter at rug hooking class.
We met for lunch on Friday it was fun and lots of laughs.

We have lost a lot of snow from the rains that came in.
Sadly, the winds and cold weather came in behind it.
And we are in for a dusting of snow tonight.  We can get some of our biggest storms this month. But the sun is warmer, and it melts faster.
Thankfully there is warm weather coming in this week.

Thank you all so much for all the wonderful comments and visits.
I appreciate you all so much!
Have a wonderful week!!

As a teen my flower press was between the pages of a book. I don't remember doing water colors but did oil painting and took some classes. Enjoyed the classes and painting until that wasn't exciting or challenging. But my love for rug hooking has endured through the years.

I'm glad you're enjoying painting. Just letting it happen is hard at first when you're used to directing events as in rug hooking.

Great tea fortune! It looks like you're doing quite well with the watercolor. I am thinking I wouldn't be so great at that form of it as I don't think I would do so well at just "relaxing" or "going with the flow" LOL. I was just having that discussion with "the hooker down the road" this past week...and why hit n' miss projects are out of my comfort zone. Your weather (and climate) sounds quite a bit like ours. Some of worst snows come in March and April. We had a nasty winter storm last week but this week is supposed to be welcomely mild. I think your hooking project looks great! ~Robin~

I use to press flowers in books. Not know more. The watercolor painting looks wonderful. A nice fortune. Never knew they did for tea. Thankfully our snow has melted and we will be in the 60's starting tomorrow. YIPEE. Janice

I love your watercolor art! You are so very talented. We have had a nice spring-like weekend here in Utah, but another big snowstorm is coming next week. I hope you have a good week. See you again soon!

You've been doing all sorts of fun things! You'll have to let us know how flower pressing goes. I like your water color, I've always been interested in that.
We are about to have a week of false Spring. I'll enjoy it until winter returns!

I love your painting, I bet that is so much fun and the pressing of flowers. I don't know if I would be wild about the paper either. I do hope that you will have some real spring sooner than later.

I am not sure what a flower press is really - but I like the paintings you made from them. I like the colors. I also really like the poem. A little break in the winter is nice.

I feel your pain when it comes to spring. I like your flower presses. I tried the homemade paper also. It makes nice gift tags. Thank you for sharing.

I think your watercolor pages look great!
What fun to have some new hooker friends 😉
Once in a while we get a huge storm around St. Pat’s Day. I have been praying for good weather for my class in PA at the end of the week and it is looking good. Hopefully it will continue for my trip to southern Ohio the following weekend.
I say the light purple’s gotta go. Just about my least favorite color. How’s that for unsolicited advice? 🤣🤣🤣

Years ago my daughter and I made paper. If I remember correctly we used the blender??? Anyway, we did it once and that was enough.
Nice that you're enjoying painting. It looks like fun.
Am I the only one that likes pale purple? 💜

You are describing our weather too. Love your watercolours.

Good morning your paintings are amazing-I wanted to learn how to paint a couple of years ago and I wasn't very good at all and I really wanted to achieve watercolor panting-I may try again. I love making papers-there was a few years at the woods house that I make a lot of different papers. Happy new week hugs

Gosh your paintings are wonderful! I made a new hooking friend at a hook in on Sat. That was the best part.

I love your painting, Can't believe that's your first rodeo. Your tulips and hydrangea are especially nice. I used to make paper -- didn't work that well for me either and I'm glad I'm not into it anymore! And fun to have new hooking friends! Big smiles for you.

we recently had 2, 70 degree days but the hubs has the flu so we were not able to get out and enjoy it. it's cold today but the winds have died down. i tried my hand at making maker also, with the same result...never doing that again. i think your watercolor is beautiful, i have not yet taken my stuff out yet but this has inspired me. i enjoy craft classes, learning a new craft and making new friends,

The watercolors look like fun and much easier than the silk painting I tried a couple of weeks ago. The local library had a free workshop and while fun it’s not something I will pursue.
