Crisp

Our mornings have been cool and crisp in the low 40s, warming up to the mid 70s.
The leaves are turning fast because we are so dry. While the days are so beautiful we are in desperate need of rain. And this week we are going to touch 80s but still cool off at night.

And with fall comes football. My grand is in the band.
We watched part of the game just to see her play. She is a freshman, so it is all new and exciting for her.

And it is Sunday, so the Patriots are playing.
The game is still going on and they are struggling.

Husband wanted something sweet. I had a can of peaches in fruit juice. I made a peach cobbler. I would prefer fresh peaches, but this is what I had on hand, and it was quick and easy.
I used an 8x8 pan
350 for 40 to 45 minutes.
1/2 cup of butter I melted it right in the baking pan while the oven was preheating.

Mix together
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of brown sugar
(you can add 1/2 cup of white sugar if you want it sweeter)
1 cup of milk
2 tsp of baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
I used a pumpkin spice mix but use what you like.
(1 tsp)

1 can of peaches do not drain!

Pour the flour mixture on top of the butter (do not mix)
Then scoop the peaches with the juice and put all over the top.
Bake.
It is great with whipped cream while still warm!
I have changed it a bit, but I got the basic recipe
from lilluna.com

I got these 3 books from my local dump store.
I am a 1/3 through the midnight library and I am loving it!!!
I used to read Jodi Picoult all the time but gave up with the novel on school shooting. But I will give her a try again.

And I am stitching. But I have to get back to rug hooking soon.
****
I got into a bone builder class at the senior center yahoo there was a wait list. I also do a yoga class there.
I am walking but my foot is still bothering me just not as bad.
Tomorrow I am hosting my women's group. I am so looking forward to seeing everyone!
Have a wonderful week!

  2. How fun to have Miss B in band now. You have to be a proud grandmother. It is getting back into the 80's here and I hope the humidity does not come back with it. Been use to the cooler temps. Peach Cobbler sounds wonderful! TFS Janice

  3. It really is starting to look like Fall. We're to have temps in the 80's this week, but then get much cooler. So soon it will feel like Fall too.
Your crisp recipe sounds like a good one, and easy too!

  5. I sure do like the crisp mornings, warm afternoons and mild evenings. And all without heat or A/C. Don't even mind putting on a sweatshirt and pants to stay warm inside. But all too soon that will change so we should enjoy this while we can.

  6. Our temps have been in the fifties at night and warming up to the 70's during the day. Absolutely perfect weather IMHO, but like you, we desperately need rain and none in the forecast until next Sunday. At the moment, a very low percentage chance.
    Aw. Sweet Miss B.
Your stitching looks great. One of these days I need to find some hooking time but having another weekend antique sale at my friend's house this time so not likely to happen this week...sigh.
    Cobbler sounds yummy!
I need to get in a yoga class or something. I walk almost daily, but really need to do more.

  7. High school football games and fruit cobblers are a sure sign of autumn.

  9. We're warming up too and just today I really began to notice the leaves changing. It seems like last year, they were still pretty colorful even into November so this early changing tells me something is very different. I love your stitching!

  10. Our weather is very similar...we are even flirting with 80ยบ, but very, very, dry. I love the photo of Miss B in her band uniform. My son took trumpet lessons for a while and I had thoughts he might some day be in the famous UW band but it wasn't to be. I used to read every Jodi Picoult book that came out and loved her but then she took a turn. I did read a couple after I "quit" her, but it only reinforced my decision to walk away. (I did read Mad Honey though.). Hope your week is off to a good start.

  11. Look how cute Miss B is in her band outfit! Sweet! Yes, fall like weather has been here too but this week will ring out summer with warm temps but low humidity and cool nights are good! Your recipes are always so good looking! Yum! I'm very behind in posting and reading so I'm going to try and catch up! Have a good week Cathy!

  13. Your peach cobbler looks scrumptious. Haven't had that in a long time. How fun to watch your granddaughter play in the band. My one foot also hurts if I walk on it for too long. Love the first Autumn photo and quote. Your weather sounds similar to ours here in the mountains. Getting cool in the mornings. I love your little "acorn" icon. It always reminds me of Fall. Enjoy the remainder of September.
