Day lilies are in bloom.
Hollyhocks.
Crazy picture but we dove in before I could get a picture.
I whipped up some ricotta, roasted some tomatoes, onions, garlic, with some fresh basil topped with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It goes on the top of the ricotta with crackers or bread yummmmy. My one hint is always purchase the name brand ricotta. It is always smoother.
I was given some homemade vanilla I used it all. It still has the vanilla beans in the jar to make another batch I used the bourbon I got as a little gift. 6 to 8 weeks later voila I will have another batch of vanilla!
My lavender is so full and wonderful this year. I cut some today and made a small wreath for my downstairs bathroom.
Sat we went to visit King Arthur Flour. Big mistake! It was crazy!!
We usually go during the week when it is not so crazy. But I got what I needed and a few things I didn't need more on that later.

I spent several days punching on that piece. It was still a mess!!!
So, I made the decision to pitch it. I did not enjoy one minute of it, and it kept looking sparse and horrid. It was time to move on. There are a whole lot more crafts in the world to try to love or hate.

I hope your 4th was safe and wonderful.
Have a lovely week.

Lovely blooms, I tried a craft that was punching I had picked up a the thrift store-I did the same haha didn't like the process and pitched mine too or thrifted it back.
I love homemade vanilla too-I found two bottles that were dated over 10 years ago-excellent now smiles.
have a good week ahead
Your lavender is gorgeous. I need to know what variety you have because it would be hardy for me too just south of you. I have two plants that I got from FedCo several years ago but they don't seem to winter very well.
The lavender wreath is gorgeous. I have never made vanilla. I don’t think we’ve ever had any bourbon though.
Your lavender wreath is so pretty! I've heard that homemade vanilla is so good. One of these days I'll do that.
It's hard to throw a craft away. I had a really detailed cross stitch family tree that I got about 1/3 done, but it was torture to work on. I had it sitting around for a few years and finally tossed it. I like your thoughts on doing that.
Now I think I would enjoy going to King Arthur Flour. I didn't know you could do that. Your food looks wonderful and I need to make some vanilla like that. Your flowers are gorgeous. I hope you have a lovely week.
Hollyhocks are one of my all-time favorite flowers, but they are hit or miss here for us. I know they are biennial, but I had a few that did well, then just never came back. My doubles were especially sporadic. I don't think I have any that came back this year. :-( Your lavender is amazing!! It's only an annual here, so I'd have to plant tons in order to get enough for a wreath like that. I love homemade vanilla but, wow...you do yours in 6-8 weeks? I do mine for 6 mos at a minimum...and prefer to let it go a year. The ones I have going now are in rum.
Bummer on pitching the punch needle. I have the fabric. I have a pattern or two (ok, ok - it's more). I definitely have floss and the tool. Yet I don't start as I suspect this is something that looks deceptively simple, like knitting when watching others who have done it a while do it. I mean how hard can poking a needle with floss into fabric be?
Your lavender is mmm-mmm-MMMM pretty! How many plants to you have to pick that much? I guess I should plant more than one :-).
Glad you felt you could pitch it. No guilt. Love your philosophy of moving on. You are right about so many things to try. I feel that way too. Some things stick and some don't. Love your wreath!
i liked that recipe, it sound delicious!! too bad on the needle punch piece but if you were not enjoying it, it is best you move on. work on something you enjoy!! i did not know about king arthur flour stores...i rarely go anywhere on the weekend, we are weekday travelers!!!
Your flowers are wonderful. I wish I could grow lavender. It is too cold here.
I love the lavender wreath that you made . Sorry about the project that you gave up on. Sometimes it just doesn't seem enjoyable and you might as well not waste your time.
Never been to a KA store. That looks fun. Though not when busy.
Next year I want to add lavender to my flower garden as I heard it keeps the mosquitoes at bay. Sorry to hear you pitched your punch needle project, but if you are not happy with it, then probably not worth the effort to continue. Janice
Do post about the ricotta recipe as I have a container that needs using😉. Patrick bought lavender seeds and planted them in a pot on our window sill, but it will be a long time until there’s any to harvest unlike your beautiful display.
And, we’ve been to King Arthur but only on a weekday. Looking forward to reading about your purchases.
The ricotta looks fabulous- I’m definitely making that! Did you heat the ricotta or just top it with all the roasted goodness?! Your wreath is absolutely beautiful. I never can get lavender to grow- so pretty, that would sell in a heartbeat here!
during my second look, i payed more attention to the wreath, it's beautiful!!
Do you live far from King Arthur? I've always wanted to go there. Your cracker spread looks absolutely fabulous. I'd love the recipe too. And I'm so impressed by your lavender wreath -- first off, you have so much! How did you do this? Wire them into a grapevine wreath? I'm curious! It's fantastic and must smell heavenly!
Your lavender wreath is so pretty. You did a nice job on that. And your ricotta appetizer looks delicious. Sorry it's been so hot there. I just visited a blog friend whose town was in the 100's. Try to stay cool, and I hope your July days are pleasant ones. : )
