If memory serves me correct, my roomie in college had one of those machines and she was taking a Court Stenographry course... boy, I guess I'm dating myself now, aren't I?!! (No need to put me in the drawing, just fun to play along)
Hi My guess it is a short hand steno machine used by a court steno reporter/person, which uses short hand to record testimony and court proceedings. The pads appear to be instructions on short hand.
Your dump has the best stuff. I have some of my Mom's steno note pads like these. She went to secretarial school in 1947! She still used shorthand sometimes when she wrote us notes.
I hadn't thought of that in a while - thanks for the memory!
That machine is a stenograph machine for typing shorthand. Lucky you for having found the instruction manuals. I hope that you don't use shorthand on your blog, lol... Have a great day. JB
Yep, stenographer pads and stenotype machine. I took shorthand in high school too and used it through college to take notes. Don't remember any of it now though!
Can't really think of anything except to practice stenography (?). Your dump finds amaze me, who would actually keep this since the 1940's??

ReplyDeleteLook like short hand/dictation machine to me and steno pads. I didn't do very well in short-hand--put pretty good in typing. LOL
