Heat and More Heat

Look how happy my blueberry muffins are lol.

I try to get in the garden early before the bird and chipmunks get the blueberries. I am getting a handful a day. Yesterday while waiting for my coffee, I see the blueberry bush swaying back and forth. I run out like some kind of mad woman chasing the chipmunk out. Good thing the new neighbors cannot see into our yard, it wasn't pretty.

Church sale last week I scored some goodies.
I learned some new ways to use rubber stamps while I was with Donna, and these were cheap and never used before.

And I scored this handmade shade it is a perfect fit for a lamp I have. It is so beautiful when it is lit up.

It has been hot and more is heat coming. So, husband and I have been playing cards on the porch after dinner waiting for the fireflies to come out. So lovely and peaceful. I am so over this heat!!!

But the gardens are flourishing. I should have a bumper crop of tomatoes this year.

I am getting my car inspected tomorrow NH just passed a law to no longer have car inspections starting 2026. Not sure how I feel about it. We have winter that rusts cars and breaks.
Have a wonderful week!

  1. I see you got a dough mixer like mine. I love it for mixing all kinds of flours and stiff doughs.

  2. No rain for us. There's the Mt. Ascutney effect - the mountain in VT divides the storm and since we are directly east of it, storms go south and north of us. One day last week while granddaughter was at horse camp in Claremont we had no rain but it poured buckets on her. She was not a happy camper.

  3. Fresh blueberries. Yum.
You always score such great finds. Please share what you learned to do with the stamps. Inquiring minds want to know 😊

  5. I'm glad I'm not the only berry picker that has to beat the animals. The Robins tell me when the June berries are ripe.

  6. We have been lucky with the heat, but it is coming again. We do have a breeze from the bay that reaches us, so that helps. I planted two blueberry bushes, but nothing this year. I put them in an enclosed area to keep the critters from eating them. Good deal on lobster, I need to get some soon, been awhile and yes, much cheaper to cook your own. Love to see the photos of your area and your hikes, hopefully we can get up there more in the fall when the crowds are gone.

  7. Yummy on your blueberry muffins! Dang, I'd better remove those rubber stamps from the box of stuff going to the thrift shop!
No more car inspections? Will you just send a check for your new tags? Frankly that would suit me just fine so I don't have to wait at the inspection line. Besides, when you have an oil change the shop can inspect it for you.

  8. Your blueberries are so nice looking. So are your muffins. I would love to watch fireflies. It sounds like you are in the middle of summer. But how nice to be outside on that screened in porch. What a lovely place. Your finds are good and what fun. I hope it doesn't get too much hotter for you.

  9. I chuckled at your blueberry rescue. Chipmunks aren’t good at sharing.

Your blueberries are wonderful. I so love blueberries. Plan on making some blueberry pancakes one morning this week. UGH Janice

  15. Same here with the heat in this part of New England and, like you, I am so done with it and waiting for a cooldown over the next few days. Right about now, I would welcome a nice rainstorm but not like in other parts of the country. Your church sale finds looked useful and the lampshade is beautiful.

  16. You had me at hollyhocks and blueberries!! The hollyhocks have such a gorgeous color! And your blueberries are such good size. I'd wrestle a chipmunk for them too. Yes, do tell about the stamps! I have a whole cabinet stuffed with them! As always, great finds. I can't believe anyone would part with their brodpisker though!
