It's All About The Berries...

Do you ever go into a weekend feeling like road kill?
This is how I felt on Friday I needed down time. Major down time.
(This is a gummy frog that was on the sidewalk outside of work)

Saturday was beautiful I walked around the garden.
did some house work and read on the porch.

Saturday afternoon we headed out for our first paddle of the season.

This little pond has islands that are famous for their blue berries.
I think husband ate more than saved but hey we were not that prepared to pick.

But pick we did! These are the little sweet lovely's

Yummm

We did see a pair of sweet loons..

And beautiful sights,

I made blueberry and peach pie...

And blueberry coffee cake to say I have had my quota of sugar would be an understatement.

And this is my Miss B. My daughter and her husband build a new house last year so this is their first summer in their new home and they have found major blueberry, raspberry and blackberry patches.
So Miss B has become a picking machine. She is waiting for her mixed berry muffins to come out of the oven my sweet baby.
Her mother always loved to pick too.

Slip Cover

As you know we redid our porch this year. And this is one of two chairs that are not that comfy but we use them all the time. So I decided to remake the cushions.

I had high density  foam from a yard sale I bought some time ago.
I purchased a heavy weight drop cloth and said what the heck I am going to give it a try. Well far from perfect they look ok and are comfortable yea! And pretty dang cheap. I think I paid a couple of dollars for the foam and 22.00 for the drop cloth and I have lots of fabric left over.

Summer has found us with hot muggy weather and most of us in this area do not have air conditioners.  This is my delphinium that I got a picture of before the rain did it in.

So sweet

I also have some of the darker variety.

I also have a few high bush blueberries that doesn't yield much but enough for this....

Dinner at my daughter's so I was able to bring a treat.
( I made the crust myself.)

I am reading Harper Lee's new book I am 100 pages in so you know what I will be doing with my free time the rest of this week.
Have a great week!

So Thankful

For little girls who have super powers to make veggies grow.
(Yep Miss B)
For farmers who sell their veggies. That helped make the most amazing dinner ever!
For the birds who are getting settled for the night chirping good night to everyone.
For this beautiful evening great for porch sitting.
For amazing friends and family.
I could go on for pages I am blessed with much.
Wishing you many blessings

Another Busy Weekend

Feet up and thinking about the weekend.

Friday we went to see Darius Rucker who is now country but use to be Hootie from Hootie and the blow fish. It was wonderful he puts on a great show.

We got age verified for that bottle of beer which made us both laugh.

Sat bright and early we headed to a family outing at
my brothers in law. Where there is a corn hole tournament.

Some people hit the pool with the kids. It was a warm wonderful weekend.
Then we headed to the beach again. Good friends and good food plus the beach who could ask for more.
Now back to work :(

Our Time Away

The sun rose on our few days in Maine at the beach.

When the sun shines they will come.

But who could blame them it was just beautiful. We stayed at a friend's beach house so we felt very lucky to be there.

The moon was so beautiful setting on the water each nigh.
But as always time to go home. I took a couple of extra couple days so today bright and early we headed to...

Storyland!

Where Miss B drove the family around.

Where we took silly selfies while waiting for a little show to begin.
We had all been soaked on some of the rides so we were looking a bedraggled. It was good to spend the day with my daughter and Miss B!

We had some things bloom while we were away.
my one and only Hollyhock.

My fairy roses are just loaded with flowers and buds.

This little planter by my back door looks great too.

And my porch my sweet sweet porch! It is done and we are just putting things back in their place and weeding out what just doesn't work anymore for us. it is just beautiful if I do say so myself.

I hope your holiday was a great one and was shared with friends or family.
