The Lavender Is In Bloom

My little fishy got to go swimming.

In the same place that her mother spent a lot of
her summers when she was little.                                               Squam lake beach in our little town.
Not a bad place to spend the day.

My daughter and I did get out to the church sale nice and early and found some goodies the pink under the scarf and cd is a pair of LL bean pants
in a size smaller! My weight is coming off but, very very slowly. Lets hope that means it stays off.

We spent today decorating the house for the 4th of July.

The porch was the first to get it.

I put out my flag pillows

Ran a new flag up the flag pole and now we are
looking forward to the Holiday. We have some time off coming and
we are looking forward to some great fun with great friends.

The lavender is in bloom and all is right with the world
Have a great week!

A Cupboard

Last Saturday I got to a Sale for the first time in weeks and weeks.
I just fell in love with this little oil painting. I could dream I will retire there with a Gardner of course.

On the bottom of the pile is a vintage tablecloth I got
for 1.00 I love them for our porch. and Who doesn't like good
old Frank for .50. There is also a vintage nursery rhyme book there too.

I have had no time to go through it but I am
sure there is something good to make.

Several weeks ago David picked up some free wood
I took some pictures of what he made, I am so loving it.

It is so darling I love the color and the space
in between with the counter.

It is made from a slab of old wood.

So what are your thoughts cause I am thinking
I may want this. But I have no earthly place to put it.
So I guess he will sell it.

Maybe I will keep this old paddle for over the fireplace.

We are going to have our Miss B over night
on Friday so excited and then spend Saturday at
the local science center where they have live animals
that live in our area. They only keep ones that were hurt and could
not be put back in the wild.

Perhaps the best thing about the future is that it comes just one day at a time.

What Did You Do This Weekend

I gardened a bit, come on I will show you a bit of the
garden.

My Stella Doro lilies are in full bloom

My roses make the yard smell so good. Even the bear
loved it. I sat down to have my coffee in our big window this
morning and low and behold a very large bear was just walking around our gardens. Not really bothering anything and giving us
a show.

and he left going over the this rock wall into the woods.
Do you think I could lay my hands on a phone or camera?
NOPE so no picture.

Our first selfie:) We took a hike and were the only ones on the trails.

This property is for sale so when I hit it big we are going to build
house with an infinity pool and never come down.

I have also been hooking this is the pattern
that Kim gave me as a gift when we had our girls weekend.
I really love how it is coming out.

As most of you know I have been dying wool.
I dyed 3 nights in a row. It is hard to take a picture of
the colors. they just do not come our right, some of it I am
really loving.

We waited for most of the bikers to leave (Motorcycle week here) and we headed
for the beach bar for dinner. We listened to a band that was playing.
a good end to a great weekend.
****
I hope you had a great weekend I spent most of today
cleaning my car what a pit it was! It is one happy car now:)

Oh Deer A Long Post

My hosta is in full glory, these leaves
are at least 2Xs the size of my hand.

Then the deer found my garden!
The first time in 26 years they have raided
my garden.

I got the cat planter and planted his butt
with hens and chicks. Not sure why I think it's cute.

I had my women's group last night so I made this
pumpkin cake. Do not make this cake if you
are trying to drop weight. It is made from a cake mix
with pumpkin, and pudding added, sooo yummmy.

Trying to clean out the frig and I came up with this
hamburger pizza thing. It really was great. It has hamburger,
refrigerator rolls, pizza sauce, cheese, and pepperoni.

Yes I went back into the the dye pot.

I had a plan...

This is how it came out, the wool is soaking wet
so I think it will be good. The green I dyed I can't seem
to get a good picture of, it is much lighter than I wanted.

I ordered these from Lauren to give as a gift
and now I can't part with them. So yes Lauren, I will
be ordering more.

I especially love this one! Go on over and order
your set from rugs and pugs.

I have gone on long enough have a great week!
It is motorcycle week here so thousands and thousands of them will be in the area
I plan on staying close to home and wait for them to leave.

To Day I Dyed

I started with this wool and a plan

And so it begins, It is not dry yet but I will tell you this
it does not match my plan:(

Guess where Miss B took Pep for Father's day?

Story land! Where she wore a life jacket for the first time.
She wanted the Swan boats more than she didn't want to wear the life jacket.

Smile! It's fathers day I hope it was a great one!

Thank you all so much for your comments on my question about used wool. It made me feel so much better about things. What a wonderful place this blog world is!

Organizing And A Question

I have a nice pantry that becomes the black hole
of all things in the kitchen. Since I have been trying to
organize something every night I tackled the pantry tonight.
I wish I had taken a before picture. I am ashamed to
say I put a lot of things in the garbage(mostly open crackers). And every time
I promise myself it will not happen again. Let's see if I can keep the promise this time.

In the evening I have been taking apart some old wool skirts
I have picked up over time. I plan to dye this weekend so
if you hear a scream that would be me.
The question is do you think it brings the art of rug hooking
down to hook with used wool? I have heard in the past that
quilters do not quilt with used cotton so why should a hooker use
old wool. I would love your thoughts on this.
******
Happy father's day to all the Dads out there. We
will be spending ours with our amazing daughter, son in law, and
Miss B going to Story Land! Miss B's favorite place!

Where Did The Weekend Go?

We celebrated Husband's birthday early at
a local restaurant since it was a big one for him.
For those of you who do not know, my husband had a bone
marrow transplant 2 1/2 years ago and his donor and savior
is his brother ( in the hat)

This is the birthday boy with his baby sister.
We even had super cool T shirts that his brother made up.
(That cake is solid ice cream from a local shop soooo good)

The next morning we called a close friend and off we went
for our maiden voyage of the year.

We are looking forward to an amazing summer of
paddling all the lakes in the area.

Since we worked up a thirst and hunger off to the local
beach bar. (on a lake)  This i drink is so good and a bit sinful, with some fried clams to top it off just perfect.

I also had my guild meeting and we had a class
on braiding. I have a whole new appreciation
for people who braid (I see a corner I have to tweak a bit).
I do love the look, and I hope to braid again.

If you didn't start out the day with a smile, it's not to late to
start practicing tomorrow.

Girls Weekend!

The sun has set on our girls weekend and soo much fun.
I met Kim and it was instant friendship!

Look at these two lovely ladies. Donna on the left
and Kim from Millie"s Mats on the right.

We hit all the hooking stores in the area and Stonewall
kitchens which is a gourmet food place. I did buy a few
things to take home.

We are standing under this wisteria how beautiful.
We had wonderful weather while we were together.
some rain one evening.

The only store picture was camp wool which we all bought something in.

Then it was off to the biker bar for a very good lunch.
Yes if you are brave or drinking a lot you ride the hog.
we passed on the hog ride and left with our bras on :)
(Yep they are real bras hanging from the rafters)
Not one picture of the lobster, seafood or lovely drinks the whole
weekend  I guess we were to busy eating.

There were also gifts Donna gave us these potted plants and
coasters that she made yes she made the pot!

And Kim well she brought the best gift of all besides herself!
She had  Deanne Fitzpatrick draw us a pattern that is only for the
three of us! Yes that is right AMAZING! I will never show the whole pattern as I do not want anyone to copy it, it so very special to me. Kim also knit the dish cloths and brought some of Deanne's special material to hook with.
***
It was so special meeting Kim and I can understand why she
has a very active group of friends. I sure wished she lived closer to me. What fun we had! It has to be a yearly event!
