Mother Nature

Ring Ring ....Ring Ring...

Hello..
Yes this is mother nature calling spring will be late...

They are talking about snow flakes on Monday ugg.
***
I know I am complaining about the weather and those of you in the path of
tornadoes and floods are in my prayers. I will put up with the cold and snow any day
so we don't have to deal with tornadoes.
But it sure would be nice to see the sun ......

Estate Sale,Ta Da Dump, and Horses..

So up and out early to an estate sale with a friend. Best find of the day
a deviled egg holder, yes! nice glass one!

I also got this picture and a book on the history of NH.

I really love the painting and put it in the book case in the living room.

Later in the day my friend was going by the estate sale again and stopped.
They had some assorted wood that they wanted to give away for free.
So back David and I went he got a pick up truck load and was so happy
I will show some of the things he builds with it when he gets going.
I picked up a couple of oil cans I have seen small hooked pieces displayed on them
so lets see if I really do it :)

On the way home I hit the dump. I got the books and the bridge
cards the 2 kids rolling pins perfect for play dough.
The cribbage board I got at a thrift I want to learn how to play so wish me luck.

And guess who got to horse back ride! Her Daddy's aunt has a horse
farm and gives lessons. So B and her cousins got to go for a ride.
I think her parents are in for it, there is a big smile on her face.

And as every good horse woman knows you have to keep your
horse shiny and happy :)

We are in for a week of rain and cooler temps, come on spring where are you?

Where Did The Weekend Go?

Friday night we made the ride into Boston to see the Red Soxs play
(Badly)

Our seats were as close as you could get with out being on the field.
Just an amazing experience.

Right and in front of us in the half wall separating us from the field was a tv
So we got to keep an eye on the Bruins game at the same time. It really
was a wonderful evening and the kind of evening that just doesn't happen all that much
in my life. Those were very expensive tickets that my friend got through a friend.

Today for Easter my Miss B (on the Left) and her cousin
enjoyed an egg hunt and lots of fun. This is a gold fish cracker break.

And of course a game of cards and lots of laughs.  It was a beautiful day
so we could play outside in the sun. Now it's on to Monday
and another week of work.  Have a great week everyone.

Gifts

We are waiting patiently for Easter in this house. We are decorated, the eggs are sorted
and the basket is ready. We are hosting an egg hunt and dinner for family which is always
fun and good for some laughs.

We had very strange weather this week 70's on Monday then snow, ice, and rain
on Tues &Wed which resulted in this. It flooded the main road into the town I work in so around I went.
When I got to the parking area I found this. The little dot out there is an electrical panel that
the bans use through out the summer when there is concerts. I just hope it's shut off.

I am blessed with many things in this life and most of all I am blessed with amazing friendships.
My sweet sweet friend gave me as she calls it a "spring gift" tonight the bee skep isn't it wonderful?
I can't wait to get it in the garden. This friend and I have been through it all and I do mean all.
She took a few late night calls from me when David was so sick. I was so glad she was there.
I just hope I am as good of a friend to her.

Tomorrow night another couple of long time friends are treating us to a Sox's baseball game!
Not just any seats mind you, primo seats with parking and dinner.(In Boston parking is worth it's weight in gold) I am so looking forward to this night out.
For years these friends would let us share their vacation time. What wonderful memories we have made.

Wed night I met up with my women's group we had'n seen each other since before
Christmas. It is always a pot luck dinner and catching up with each other.
It is a very eclectic group of women but somehow it works and is completely wonderful.

I hope everyone has friendships in their lives it makes life so much richer.

Ask And Ye Shall Receive...

I wish I had a million dollars!
Well it is rainy and chilly here just right for the fireplace. We have had wonderful weather
high 60's and just beautiful. We still have lots of snow on the ground but each day
it is less and less.

So just a couple of weeks ago my bread machine died. I had bought it
at a yard sale for 5.00 and was very sorry to see it go.
Today at Ta Da Dump low and behold a beautiful bread machine
with the instruction book inside. A little scrubbing and she is ready to go!
Now if I could just get that million dollars.

Along with the bread machine I found these Christmas plates all in their original wrap.

And these really cute books for Miss B.

We have a huge egg hunt for the kids, I buy plain bags at the dollar
store and have the kids paint, color, stickers and ribbons to make them
their own.

These are folders I though I would pass on to my daughter to use at
school. I think they are funny.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful encouragement I got
from the last post. You made me feel better about things for sure.
****
Friday night we were given free tickets to a local theater that has live
talent we saw a guy named Louden Wainwrite III folk singer and story teller
we really enjoyed him and it was nice to be out and about..
Have a great week everyone!

You can't control the length of your life, but you can can control its width and depth.
You can't control the contour of your face, but you can control its expression. You can't control the weather , but you can control the atmosphere of your mind. Why worry about things you can't control when you
can keep yourself busy controlling the things that depend on you.

Just Fading Away....

At the used book store I manage we get all kinds of things in.
This magazine came in with some books that were dropped off.
It is October 1990 I grabbed it to flip through after logging in all the books.

And this is what I found, it is a pretty extensive article on rug hooking
by Pat Hornafus. It has lots of  natural dying instructions among how to hook and finish this rug.

I am posting a picture of the pattern I think since it has been in a magazine it is
ok to post for someone else to use. (If I am wrong please let me know)
36X26. She talks about using burlap backing I know I was using monks cloth in the 90's.
My first rug I ever hooked was on burlap which I hated the feel of.

Well finally spring has come to New Hampshire. we still have snow cover in our yard
but with the warmer temps and the rain we have lost a lot of snow. I am not sorry
to see it go.
****
I have noticed that each year I post less and less so will this blog just fade away?
I still love to blog, I am just so dang boring. I can only post so many pictures of
Miss B before everyone says enough already!

A Dumpster Dive...

April
showers often; the earth softens. Sunny and sweet.
Watch out for sleet! Dry feet. A soaking no joking!
Peepers croaking. Gloomy north, boomy south; What a
sampler! Warming, but rain's ampler.
The Old Farmer's Almanac.

David has been dumpster diving and pulled out this!
It looks like it may have come out of one of the local dorms

She has very nice feet though. I will
revoke David's dump sticker if he should ever do this again!
It is very dangerous and he does not need to do anything
stupid. I will show you the after once it is done.

I came out of work to find this on my windshield ugggg!

which turned out to be this from a local restaurant
if you click on the picture I got the violation for not enough
bumper stickers. (I have none)

Today was one of those days you wait all winter for.
The sky was so blue, and we made it all the way to high 50's.
I took a walk it felt so nice to have the sun on my face.
We are off to Boston tomorrow for a Dr's appointment
along with an estimated 10,000 firefighters that are going to the funeral
of the fallen firefighters.
