Can You Stand More Fall Pictures And My Rug

Friday was one of those days that only come around once in a while.

The sky was so blue and the weather was so warm and beautiful...

I couldn't help myself

That is my home sweet home all tucked into the woods even though we just cut two of our trees down.
They were hanging over the roof of our house not great for the shingles.

I got to antique a bit today they said this is a child's rake not sure it is the handle is to thick but for 7.00 it was fine.

This is what I do  with them, I love how they look
in that french watering can.

And now my rug. I am finally happy
with all of the colors.
I am off to a hook in the coming Saturday I am
looking forward to getting with other hookers and seeing all of the talent.

Rain for the up coming week so that will be the last of the fall colors. Have a great week everyone!

Keeping My Wits About Me

I love where I live ...

The beautiful seasons...

Today was in the high 70's and humid more like summer than
October.

No reason for a fire tonight we have some of the windows
open to hear the last of the peepers...

While I can't stick my head in the sand about what
is going on in this country... I can choose to turn it off

And just enjoy the sight and smell of fall.

and count my amazing blessings.

Fall In New England

Last Monday I had the day off so we took advantage of a beautiful day and headed out to lunch in a very quaint town.

spires reach for the beautiful blue sky

We visited a WW2 museum, I really thought I would be bored to tears but it was so interesting. they had it set up that each room was a year of the war. they had what was happening at home, what
children might get for christmas, the music and what was in the movies.

I thought this was pretty interesting that home prices were
about 2X the average income. Not so now.

To use up some of the apples we picked last weekend
I made apple butter...
I canned some for gifts. It came out so amazing.

In all of it's beautiful yummyness. I used
fresh ginger and cider, the apple comes through so well.

This piece has been giving me more trouble then
I can say. I think my confidence is gone and I don't trust my decisions. First the back ground was not dark enough, So I over dyed it with some med brown that was solved.

Then the letter looked to much like crayon so I cut the wool thinner, no luck, now I have taken two different browns let's see if that will work.

Like most of you I have heard the scary awful news of this country.
I have my views why and what should be done or should have been done, but I guess that is for another time.
We have decided that to stay close to home is probably the
best thing. And pray a lot.

How To Eat A Fresh Apple

Friday was our 39th anniversary, yes 39 for some reason I posted 38 on the last post I must of lost a year some where.

We could not have asked for a better day! It was high 70's
sunny, and the color was was amazing.

I was standing on a covered bridge taking this picture.
It is hard to see but there is a class of school children wading in the water I believe taking a science class. That is how warm and lovely it was.

This is a very small sample of what I bought at King Arthur flour.
It is one amazing place if you bake. The smell of bread just fills the store and the cafe was so amazing. I spend more than I should have but I just couldn't help myself. I see some great baked things in my future!
We hit lots of antique stores nothing. We go to a Vermont distillery and yummmmmmmmmm this is like baileys that taste like a lovely hint of apples and maple not cheap but so worth it. I see a trip back to Vermont before Christmas.

Saturday rainy and cold I went to my guild meeting but left early.
Once home I made a batch of pasta sauce to use up the last of my tomatoes and a homemade soup. It tasted so good on a chilly day.

Sunday back to beautiful and time with Miss B! apple picking,
She just loved it so much we had to stop her when we had between us 18 lbs of apples.

She is so stinking cute she ate 2 whole apples while picking.

Anniversary....

I went to the Deerfield fair and saw some of my guilds rugs

Do you see all of those blue ribbons?

This was best in show and she was also featured artist.
again part of our guild.

This is also one of our guilds and now you know why
I feel a bit intimidated when I am with them.

This was a teaching piece I am not sure if  it belonged to our
group or not but a great way to see how different the same pattern could be.

I baked a pear tart tonight to use up some very ripe pears
I really did just made it up with some puff pastry.
It turned out very yummuy

And I finally mastered the light fluffy biscuit.
Now I need to stop eating so much!

38 years ago tomorrow this handsome guy and I married.

We were so young and had no idea what life had in store for us.
But I would do it all over again!
We are off to a little day trip tomorrow to celebrate, and do some
leaf peeping.
