Summer's End

The last of the flowers...

we are expecting a frost on Friday..

We cleaned out the last of some veggies,we have a few
tomatoes left that may ripen before the frost.

I canned some blackberry jelly that turned out yummy.

With the left over seeds and pulp I dyed a piece of wool.
It is a very pretty color but what a pain to get all the seeds off
before I could wash and dry it. The light is before the dark is after.

I have been hooking a bit and I was suppose to see
Gene Sheppard this past weekend but threw it all to the
wind when I got a chance to have Miss B over night.

I have also been knitting a bit not much of a knitter but this
scarf seems fun so we shall see.
I also got the new Mary Jane's Farm magazine
today. So I will be busy for awhile.

A frost? Is this early in the season for frost where you are? We are just now having some fall like temperatures, with no frost in the forecast.

A frost already? UGH! It is chilly in Ohio but I refuse to turn of the furnace. The first time is always the hardest (but as I type this I am having a raging hot flash...lol!).
How wonderful you had time with Miss B, but sorry you had to miss hooking. Some things are just more important than others.
Hugs :)

I would have picked Miss B too. She is irresistible. I found a fun pattern today for a knit infinity scarf. I might go look for yarn and try it

Lovely flowers, that's what I have blooming too....love the color the wool turned out, very nice but can imagine picking off all the seeds. Blessings Francine.

It is cold at night now, so my plants are not doing well, was hoping for a few more warm weeks since I planted late. Love how the berries dyed the wool, fun to use natural things to dye with.

No frost yet here but it's supposed to go down to 0 on Thursday morning. Time to bring out the long johns out of storage. My hands were cold this morning.

Nice that you got to spend time with MIss B.

Nice scarf pattern. I'm not a great knitter but it's nice to knit while resting.
Hugs,
JB

I sure got a giggle about having to pick out the seeds, but I give you so much credit for even thinking about using the Blackberry juice for a dye!

You sure are a homespun gal. Using dye from berries--just like back in our great grandmother's day. I love it!!
