Facing The Ice Castle

March
In like a sea lion, cold and wet with fishy breath. Rain to snow and snow to rain-
do-si-do and back again! This month can't be trusted; the hing of spring is rusted.
                                    The old farmer's almanac
We toured the ice castle last night it was pretty amazing!

This is some of the ice sculptures you can see from part of the castle.

and what is a tour of an ice castle without the a fire dancer?
It is very cold here usually at this point around here they are talking ice out.
Which is usually a bet you make on the day and time the ice completely goes out on
the lake. There is still so much ice it will be July before we get rid of it.:(

I dug out my old popcorn popper ( a wedding gift a long time ago)
This is so much better and cheaper than microwave popcorn.
Plus you can control your fat and salt intake. When our daughter
was growing up this was a big deal to all the kid to watch this silly popcorn popper.

Ok I tried hooking with a 3!!!!And I am not loving the small cut. I
think I would go to a 4 next time but it was very much a learning curve for
me to do these eyes and I think for my first time not bad. I will finish it and show it
after.
****
I hope you are warmer than we are our high today is what it was on waking up this morning.
It is dropping all day. Oh spring where are you????

You are doing a beautiful job on your small hooking, and nice shading with the eyes. I am so sick of this crazy weather. I can handle snow, but too cold to go out or the rain washes it away, so we can't have fun in it;)

Cold here, too, but not as cold as you are! Expecting more snow later. Your eyes are terrific! Sarah

The ice truly is beautiful. And hopefully it will not take 'til July to melt all the ice on the lake.

Are you in Wisconsin or Michigan? I saw a story on the national news about people walking across one of the Great Lakes to view an ice cave. Looked like a fun way to spend a winter's afternoon! Coming home to popcorn would make the fun complete! ~Roberta

Cathy,
Great job on the eyes. 3 cut? Not in my lifetime. 4 cut ~ not that either...lol!
I'm thankful we didn't get nearly as much snow as they predicted!
Stay warm and safe, my friend.
Hugs :)

I'm laughing because I'm sitting here eating popcorn I just made in a popper like yours! Yum! The snow was less than predicted so I'm happy. I hope your week goes by with no ice or snow!

HHey, I think that I'll go make me some popcorn in my mini pop corn popper.
Love the ice castle photos. We are getting very cold temperatures tonight and warmer in the afternoon.

Hooking portraits is a bit tricky and I would imagine it would be even trickier in a wide cut. You are doing a great job on your eyes.

Hugs,
JB

BRRRRR! How tired everyone is of the cold weather. Not much bad weather here in the south but I'm even tired of the weather and anxious of endless Summer days.

a sign of spring even though we have about twenty inches of snow on the ground. stay warm!!!

That rug almost looks like cross stitch, the stitches are so small and fine--great job! We are predicted to having cold for the next 3 months because of the frozen Great Lakes. I do not like this prediction. But--on the other hand, if we don't have the hot muggies in July, I will be happy.
