Danger Whining A Head

This is my motto and I am holding on with just my finger nails.
Our weather has been horrid we are still colder than the normal for January.
We are below zero a lot of nights or single digits. Our lake is still making ICE!
It should be getting ready to go out by the end of this month. We have had major snow storms and ice
storms! Were is global warming!
I have found the best recipe for banana bread. It is from Cooks Illustrated.
Really the best I have ever had this is the second loaf I have made.

I hit the thrift this weekend, the good news is I took a lot of
stuff to drop off it felt good to get rid of it. I pulled out my bread machine
on Saturday and it is dead!!!! My yard sale find lasted about 5 years and for
5.00 it was good to me but I am so sorry to see it go. Now I am on the hunt for another one.
***
With all of this baking I wonder why I am gaining weight ugg. I am just like the old black bears
here only at this point they have used up all of their winter weight.
***
Miss B was sick bad cold poor chicken which lead to bad dreams so she and
her parents were exhausted. Her little friend came down with it and had to be hospitalized for an over night.
So scary for those parents.
Then husband came down with it and guess who has it now yeck!
It must be floating around out there because we didn't see miss b to get it
and miss b didn't give it to her friend. But husband gave it to me.
***
My step sister lost her husband last week He had cancer that took him quickly. He was only in his 50's
I feel so bad for her as they have a 15 year old son. We were are not super close as
our parents married when we were all adults. But my heart still aches for her.
***
Well that is the boring news from here I have been reading and not lifting a hook.
maybe I would feel better getting back to hooking. I think after this cold goes away I will get back to it.
I am off to take a nap ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Boy, does that bread look good! I've done the 'bear thing' this winter, too.

Just woke up from my nap. I'm bored with this weather too. I checked the forecast and more snow in the near future. Boredom=weight gain... We'll lose it in the summer.
Have a relaxing evening....Balisha

At least here--this winter has been sunny. Record cold. Record snow fall, but sunny a lot. That's about the positiveness I can come up with.

So very sorry to hear about your sisters husband. He was young and I feel bad for her and their son.
I just was on my way over here when I read your comment about temps below zero tonight for you again. Incredible how long winter hangs on in your area. How you do it is amazing to me because I let myself get depressed over our bad winter and it was nothing at all compared to your pain and suffering.
As much as I love Maine and New Hampshire I could not survive the winters.
Your bread machine did last a long time for the price. I hope you find another one just like it. I could sure use a piece of that delicious banana bread right about now. I start Weight Watchers tomorrow because unlike the bears my extra weight over the winter is still around my middle.
Usually I don't gain but I did this year.
Thank you for your kind words tonight. I appreciate them more than you know. I will be okay I just need to make some changes.
Wish I knew how to hook I think it would be good for me.
Try to stay warm and I am praying this is the last of your winter storms
Love
Maggie

Winter just doesn't want to quit, does it? I am sending along a dose of happy thoughts across the miles! We haven't had the cold temps you have had, but it has been our coldest winter in several years.

Sorry you are sick - no wonder you're a bit blue. Winter has out stayed it's welcome, hasn't it? Hope tomorrow finds you better and the ice beginning to melt.

This winter has taken it's toll on people I work with, and blog with! I think the whole nation needs a group hug to get through it! Hope you feel better soon and that bread looks amazing!

The weather has been miserable and you're right it feels like January! I hope you all feel better soon, but stuff is still going around, and it's because of this dreadful cold.

I'm sorry for your stepsisters loss, 50s is just too young.

You sound like I feel, enough of this cold, lol. We did get one nice day and a couple coming up this week, anything over 50 makes me happy;) I make banana bread with pineapple in it, really love the flavor with pineapple.

We had snow last night again!!! Spring starts tomorrow, let's hope it starts to warm up soon. Then we can complain about the heat!! LOL!

I love banana bread too, but it's lethal to have around the house with just the 2 of us! If I had a bread machine, I'd be as big as a house boat!!
Hope you feel better soon, being sick is the pits.

I hope you are better, and that things are looking brighter and more hopeful/hope-filled. Here in Maine this afternoon, we are having sunshine and it is windy.
More of the snow is melting, and I know Spring is around the corner.
I have a favorite banana bread recipe, but I will give the Cook's Illustrated one a try.

Hi,
I've never commented here before. I come to you via Judy at Onward and Upward...

I think everyone gained weight this winter. I've read several blogs in the past few days where they are confessing. Ha! I'm no exception.

That banana bread is beautiful and it looks delicious. I went surfing for the recipe. I think I found the right one here: http://www.cookistry.com/2011/11/ultimate-banana-bread-from-cooks.html

I hope it's the right one. My banana bread is always a little dry. I will try this recipe. Thanks.
