A Day For The Birds....

So as you can see we have lots of snow about 14 inches came last night.
husband hates these slippers they have holes but when they
are comfortable they are keepers:)

So perk some coffee and wait for the snow to stop......

This pileated woodpecker he is about 18 inches long so a big bird.
and very loud he makes a squeaking noise that you can't miss.

this is a tufted titmouse I hope I spelled that right.

and I believe this is a downy woodpecker. My bird feeder is really
a story off the ground ( our basement is out of the ground in the back) so no squirrels. I hung a large pinecone covered in
peanut butter and rolled in seeds and dried fruit. It must be the scariest looking
pine cone because the little fruit tree I hung it in is usually loaded with birds
Since I hung that up there is not a bird on that tree.

We went to a Christmas party Friday night and a brunch on Saturday
so we are in the holiday spirit here!!! I hope the spirit has found
your house and family.
Have a great week!

It is fun to watch the birds in the winter, we get a lot more when it is cold. We got enough snow to make a mess, but not enough to ski on.

I get all those same birds in my yard too. The piliated Woolpecker makes white a statement when he hammers into the trees and they are pretty.

Christmas spirit is in our house as well. Love the pileated woodpecker, you know that is the bird Woody Woodpecker is based on. We have them here and they do sound a bit like the one in that cartoon! Oh, and you have a LOT of snow!

love the photos of the birds, we get those big woodpeckers here too. maybe the pinecone looks like an owl to them? I know they use plastic ones to keep the birds away. I would have thought the fruit and nuts would draw them. hope you have a great week!

We have 7" on the ground. Today was sunny and bright, but snow falling now and suppose to all night and then, on Thursday and Friday, in the 40's and perhaps rain. Weird weather. I have a ton of birds this time of year too. I love the Tufted Titmouse--but he flits around so fast it is hard to get a picture of him. Enjoy

Be careful during the snow. Nice to see the birds. Having a cup of hot tea during chill climate will make as active.

I don't put up bird feeders because my cat and the neighbor's cats think it's carry-out dining for them! We have snow too, but it's going to be 50 by the weekend and I'm thinking it might not be a white Christmas after all. I have shopping to finish off but then I think I'm truly ready for next week. Have a good week yourself!
