A Candidate And His Cookies

Since NH has the first in the nation primary we are swamped with reporters, candidates and their staff. Lots of hand shaking, baby kissing, phone calls at least 3 at day and mailings. In those mailing was this little cookbook. His wife has the Barbara Bush vibe so I tried it out.                                                                  I settled on the chocolate chip cookie. Not exactly heart smart for a Dr's wife but hay who am I to talk.

I did have to substitute a 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour  For those amazing bakers out there I have no idea how that changed the cookie. They are tasty, I will stick to my recipe in the future.

I had to show you the birds coming to our feeder this morning. every time I moved they flew off.
It was pretty cold today and colder still tonight we are at 10 F right now headed to below 0.

I have found I post way to much about magazines, I think I may have a problem.
But here I go again, today I got the country gardens and a flyer for discount plants. So while we watch the Patriots win the game tonight (So sorry Tebow fans he is nice and all but....) I will plan my spring plantings.

I have been on Mouse patrol, yes that's right we have mice, little gray mice cute outside not so cute inside.
So I set the trap when we get one (3 to date) David yells another one I get the rubber gloves and 2 plastic bags and dump the whole works eeewwwweeeeww I hate it but David can't deal with it so I am it.
I want to thank everyone for their warm welcome for Jody she is so sweet and emailed me very excited.
I too get excited when I get followers and comments I hope that feeling never goes away.
I hope everyone is warm and cozy on this cold night GO PATRIOTS!:0)

We are warm and cozy in front of the fire. We had an early dinner of steak and potatoes. I'm now dipping into the M&M cookies...sigh! The cookbook is fun!! I was too doped up from the colonoscopy to even vote on Tuesday!
Hugs,
Courtney

Mmm, just love wholemeal cookies!
Fortunately our cat would deal with any little house invaders, but they wouldn't dare! I'm too soft hearted for my own good and in the 'before a cat' days used a live trap to capture field mice that were seeking warmth in the winter and then drive two miles down snow covered winter lanes to release them in the fields. I swear sometimes the little blighters beat me home!

Hello from Snowy and Cold Michigan. The cook book looks very interesting. I had no idea they still used "Crisco" in baking. VBG Isn't it fantastic to look at gardening magazines in the Winter. I always find something new I must have, even thought I always say I will NOT plant anything new this year in my flower gardens. LOL Hugs Judy

You've got a whole year of campaigning ahead of you this year ... we catch some of your news over here too. My daughter works in politics and is working on a campaign for May. I'll have to tell her to put some recipes in her leaflets!!! Good luck with the mice. I don't think I could deal with them!

I'm sure the good doctor will tell you that everything is OK in moderation! LOL!!! I like the idea of substituting some of the flour with whole wheat flour, did you use the white or the dark?

How about those PATRIOTS!!! Let's hope they make it through the next round! As nice as Tebow is, I did want to see the Bronco's crushed . . . I also think the media overdosed us on Tebow, because I believe he is a genuinely good man.

I hate mieces to pieces! When we moved into our home many years ago we had field mice too! Thankfully I haven't seen any in years! Sadly, when you have one you have more . . . it's best to get those disease carrying varmints out of the house too!

Love watching the birds on the feeders, I was doing that this morning! KEEP WARM!! It's nasty out there!

The mice are looking to stay warm too! I hope any in our area head to my neighbors nice big barn where they can probably find some nice corn to snack on. Speaking of snacking, the cookies look very yummy. I made some too, but have not eaten any...and it's killing me! Enjoy your magazines...I've told you before we have the same addiction!

I like to substitute ww flour for white too. It enhances the taste, I think.
Mice-eek!! I'm glad you're catching them. Have you ever tried the drowning technique? It's the only way to go, I think. You just dump them and never have to touch them.

Love the photo of the scene from the window. And I love and collect different magazines, so I totally understand.
