Guess Where I Went!

So guess where I went yesterday???? Give up Dorr Mill store. I am about 1 hour from there. My friend and I took a little trip. I really didn't get anything to exciting just some primitive linen and a new blade for my cutter.  But I love to fondle the wool and see what is new. Had a little chat with Terry he was trying to sell us a new cutter. and I would have love to but at almost 600.00 just not in my budget right now.
We woke up to this! Yikes we are getting 6-12inches and we are headed for .............

See those chairs they are waiting for my butt! I pray that all the planes can get in today so we will have one in the morning to get out. PLLLLEEEEEESSSSSEEEE let us get out on time.
You are all so sweet I am pretty much over my rash and all your prayers for Erica are wonderful keep it up she so needs that miracle she is much to young to die of cancer.
I got another award vintagegal was so sweet to pass it along to me and I have to come up with 7 things about me. Which is hard because I tell to much as it is.  So.........1. I use to own my own gift shop. I bought it from someone else it was fun but not really my style of things, very touristy. I closed it after 7 years the market just wasn't there any more.  2. I tell to much on this blog for sure. 3. I got nothing so as of now my friends you know all about me and that is TMI. I could never pass this award along I just couldn't chose a few favorites I love you all. Have a great week !

T.M.I.

I got this sweet Easter decoration at the thrift shop. It is flocked and pretty cute I would say vintage.
Then I baked bread want the recipe? Easy buy frozen bread dough, thaw and cook. mmmmmmmm. I was going to make pizza but I didn't so I baked it for bread.

a couple of weeks ago I had a U.T.I. I got some drugs and it didn't go all away. So they ordered more and now I have a big rash on my legs. I went to the Dr today he takes one look and goes wow . Now that throws terror into your soul. I have a drug allergy my first allergy ever and it's the pits. I wanted to know how long before I could see this gone, I am headed for warm weather the end of this week. He gives me other drugs to help this and says 4 days it should be all gone. mmmmm I am in shorts weather in 4 days counting today. Holy cow this itches. and I couldn't see miss baby today because I am tired from the benadryl they gave me for the itching. Now that is T.M.I
On a more somber note prayers are needed for a young woman in her late 20's dying of cancer. This is a very hard time and she has fought the good fight she is being helped with hospice right now but could use a miracle. Her name is Erica.

Relaxing

I treated myself this weekend to a magazine. It is a big splurge for me 9.95 is a lot for a magazine. Well at least it is for me. I tried to save it for vacation but to late I already read it. It is wonderful with  great ideas.  I will pass it on to my daughter and anyone else who might like to read it.
Sat I went out for a short while thrifting. The thrift store had merchandise from a gift store that closed in their town. While I hate to see any store go out of business it was a great bonanza for my Easter. I got toys and stuffed animals for all the kids and small things to stuff in the eggs. I also got stocking stuffers for my daughter and a few goodies for myself. total about 11.00 not bad! All the animals are new with tags.
We are going on vacation at the end of next week and I will be wearing sandals. Since my feet haven't seen the light of day all winter. I thought I would give them a good soaking and fine tuning.  I don't want to scare anyone while on vacation. This foot soak is at least 30 years old but I haul it out every winter and boy does it feel good. I know I could have someone do it for me but I would be so embarrassed at how dry they are so I will give them a soak every night until we go.

Miss baby came for a visit today oh how I love that baby. I always get a sinking feeling when my daughter leaves. Not sure why that is she has been out of the house for some time now. She called to tell me they got home fine. She said " mom I hate to leave your house it is so relaxing" that is the best compliment ever. I think that is it, we relax and enjoy each others company it is hard for it to end.
Mother nature fooled with us,Thur and Fri were warm and lots of snow melted. Sat morning I got up it was snow flurries and a cold wind that lasted into Sun. Monday they predict a snow storm.  I have a busy week ahead hope you are all warm and cozy.

A Night Of Gifts

I think mother nature was playing with us today. It was sunny and warm, so warm you could go with out a winter coat. But we know what she has in store for us. There are more storms lurking and more winter blasts. But for today we will enjoy this reprieve. Thank You Mother Nature
I told you in the last post that I was going to ladies night. Well it was wonderful the men cooked shrimp appetizers, chicken Marsala, with wild rice, baked squash, and brownie sundays enough to serve the 13 of us with lots left over. mmmmmm Great Job guys and lots and lots of wine. We are a group of women mostly in our 50's so we are on the second chapter of life. Grand children, children finishing up college, etc. We are from all walks of life and have all diffrent kinds of jobs it is a wonderful mix. So it was started a while ago to celebrate the first grand child with a bracelet. Last night I was presented with a beautiful bracelet and a card I will cherrish. Thank you my wonderful friends I love you all. This is not a good picture of the bracelet but it is pink and green with pearls mixed in, custom made especially for me.
Then when I got home I checked the mail box on the way in and I received my box of winnings from Rose. It looks so official the Royal mail.......
And when I opened it! All wrapped and a sweet note inside each package.
I just love everything she sent me! What a wonderful surprise. Thank you Rose so much!
You have to go to my daughter's blog for a laugh : )

TA-DA

I finally pulled my last loop on my large rug ya hoooo! I just need to finish binding it.
For Valentines my husband brought home Chinese take out. We had candles and the fireplace going. I enjoyed the evening so much we just talked and relaxed. A perfect valentines.

I wanted to show you our dump swap shop. We just had a bit of remodeling at the dump so it is clean bright and light people just need to not stack things on top of each other.  I found a few things to take home.
A lot of linens. Some things with the tags still on them. I will take a couple of things to keep and give the rest to my local thrift shop. So they can make a few dollars on them.
This apron cracked me up. Does this mean my heart belongs to "big daddy"?
and more linens. I love the iris.
a really sweet cake plate. Who wouldn't love their birthday cake on this sweet plate.
And last but not least a depression glass serving dish. I like the yellow tone to the glass.

I got to visit miss baby today she is getting sweeter by the minute. On the way home from my daughters I got a phone call on my cell that I needed to return. I have a hard time placing a call and driving. So I did the right thing and pulled over to the side of the road.  I look and a state truck with its lights on pulls up behind me. I hear a knock on the window. He wants to know if I am ok. I really thought that it was so nice for him to stop and ask. But I felt foolish that he went out of his way for my silly phone call.
Well tonight my women's group is having a get together. Two husbands are going to cook for us. Now most husbands run for the hills when we get together. There is between 12-15 of us, it is loud and a lot of laughing and silly stories I wonder how they will do????
Have a great night!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentines Day! Here are a few of my antique cards that my mom gave me before she passed away. I have them under glass on a coffee table.

I went to one thrift store this weekend and for some reason this picture spoke to me. I hate the frame and plan on painting it. I fliped it over and it is from Walmart and made in the USA. I never "shop" walmart I just go in get what I want and out. I love it but  have no place for it so I may give it away, anyone interested? Maybe I could have a small give away.

We have a LARGE Easter celebration and a big egg hunt. I am always looking for something different to give as gifts. So I shop the thrift stores for small things that could go into an egg. But I have another idea this year. I always love to look through the taste of home books.

This weekend we got to babysit my Grand..........Dog :) This is Baily and he is a pound puppy and one great dog. He has food allergies so he has home made food and his gramme made him some goooood foood. But boy was the cat mad he was here.
So my new Easter idea???? some eggs will contain a note that you can pick a prize from the pocket. How cute is this apron? It has all little pockets from all different materials. I will fill it with little gifts that wouldn't fit in an egg cute or creepy???
I got another award so exciting, from kim. And she gave my daughter one also. I think it is her first!thrifty finds on fairview ave. So 7 things you don't know about me.
1.My husband and I have the same amount of siblings.  He has 2 brothers and 1 sister and I have 2 sisters and 1 brother.
2. I am the oldest of my siblings.
3. This is the 3rd house we have owned, but the first one that we built.
4.I love blogging but have a hard time with posting most times. (I do not know what I am doing : )
5. I was a stay at home mom for several years to be with my daughter and I loved it!
6. I have a craft room that if you opened the closet door you would think you were at Dorr Mill Wool. My husband is always saying "Dorr Mill called and wanted to know if you had any blue you could sell them".
7. I really like my job.
Now I am suppose to pass this on and since I could never choose from all of you wonderful bloggers. I will leave it at that.
Have a wonderful Valentines Day!

Did You Say Donut???

This is the tree in my header. With what else but snow. I was sick for a couple of days. just general aching and bone cold. None of the other crap that goes with being sick. So I am calling it my winter malaise.  Not sure why this winter is getting to me, I have seen worse and I am a tough New Englander. Have I come to the point that I squeeze myself into a tiny camper trailer and head for warmer weather for the winter? If you asked my husband he passed that point about 5 years ago.
I have been eating way to much sugar. I can hear a donut being made a mile away. So I am trying to eat more fruit, drink more water, and generally eat more healthy. I wonder if it will help?
Today I got to see my daughter and that sweet baby. She had a snuggle and snooze day just right for a day with grammie! What a way to lift your spirits! she is growing like a little weed.
Tonight a friend and I went to see The King's Speech. What a wonderful movie go if you can!
No trifting, No dump, No fun
I hope you are all warm and cozy. For those of you in good weather god bless and send it this way.

Done Whining

Thanks for all the comments even though I was whiny. I am a bit better and I do have something to write about. Yesterday a friend and I went out and about. Coffee and muffins, and some shopping. We went to a thrift store. I got this, it is glass name place cards. I plan on using it for our Easter Buffet to label all the foods.
Then more cookie cutters and a hand made wool bear. he has one arm larger than the other but I like him flaws and all.
Of course we hit the dump. The weekends are not the time to pick to many people picking. I got this I know Christmas is over but it is good looking and I like some fake stuff in the house. and a large stack of woodworking magazines that made my husband very happy.
By the time we got home it was snowing. (This is my husbands workshop,it's heated, and has my daughter's college frig out there. he says all he need is a recliner : ) This was one crazy storm. Snow, sleet , freezing rain, rain, and a pretty big thunder storm. I have seen it thunder in the winter once before but this was as big as any summer storm.
So you know what I do when it storms,I cook! This is homemade baked macaroni and cheese. Alton Brown's recipe food tv. Easy and good.
I set the table near the fire place,we ate there played a few games of cards and called it a night.
In the morning the temps were in the 30's so melting was happening but the snow was so heavy so hard to shovel. The trees were beautiful for a few hours.
In the mail yesterday was Becks plant and bulb catalog. You can order 25.00 free and if you don't hit the 25 you pay nothing. such a good deal I am going to shop during the super bowl. Then last week at a thrift store for .50 I got this book on longwood gardens. I have never been there it says it is 30 miles outside of West Philadelphia in the Brandywine Valley.
It has the most amazing pictures and I plan on going over each picture. I want to see every flower. This book may get me through the rest of the winter.
After we cleaned up outside a bit this morning we went to Brunch. I have been to this place for dinner but not brunch. It was wonderful they had two old guys (late 70's or 80's ) playing Jazz and they were great. I sipped a mimosa and enjoyed Brunch and the music.  Total it was 25.00 We will be doing that again for sure.
Welcome to my 2 new followers and God bless you followed even though I was whining.
I hope your team wins the super bowl, we have no favorite the Patriots didn't make it : (
keep your fingers crossed for me that we are sunny and clear so I can see my daughter and that sweet baby on wed, my day off.

A Day of Whining

So it snowed today and that means I cook. Not sure why I do that? But these are snicker doodles made from a cake mix.  They are good but it doesn't make very many. of course I make them the size of your head.
This is a very bad picture of a bird house that is across my yard. Since I didn't want to tramp trough the snow to get any closer. this is as good as it gets.
I was unable to spend the day with my daughter and grand baby because of the snow so I am not so happy. I heard the ground hog didn't see his shadow so an early spring. come on spring!!!!
No thrifting and nothing at the dump so not a good week all around. Ok I am done whining.
I will post again when I have something more interesting to say. I will close with a quote from my favorite, Johnny Carson.....Groundhog Day has been observed only once in Los Angeles because when the groundhog came out of its hole, it was killed by a mud slide....
