Flowers and A Grinding Stone

I have been roaming around the garden enjoying what is still in bloom. We have had a lot of rain, this afternoon was the first time we have seen the sun since Monday. I know that Texas could use some of that rain and we have had a lot so I will try to think good thoughts for Texas. This is a fairy rose that blooms from late spring to first frost it just keeps going and going
My hydrangea is so heavy from the rain, it is starting to turn the beautiful pink for fall.
This dahlia was a gift I don't usually bother with them. you have to dig them up in the fall and put then in a cool dry place and replant in the spring to much thinking for me. But I have to say very pretty.
I got the new Flea Market Style at walmart this is a big splurge for me as I have sworn off a lot of magazines. I am so glad I splurged I have looked at it over and over.
I have several of these in different sizes I am thinking I might make this....
It is a lazy susan. I would use it on my bar when having a get together. I just love the rustic look.
We have been working on our apartment that my parents lived in that is on the bottom floor (walk out basement) of our house. Lots of painting and we are redoing the kitchen, pictures when we are done .
There was no need to do any housework at all. After the first four years the dirt doesn't get any worse .......Quentin Crisp (1908-2000) The Naked Civil Servant

Love that fairy rose and your hydrangea reminds me of the one I had in Newburyport. My grandmother planted it and it was always heavy with blooms! It's funny about the magazines. Sometimes I tell myself that if I stop buying them and use the money for things in the house, then the house would look like a magazine!

Wow, your Hydrangea bush is gorgeous .It must be spectacular when it turns color in the fall. I don't plant dahlia for the same reason as you but they sure are pretty. I'm thinking that the grinding stone would be kind of heavy but it would definitely be a conversation piece. I'm anxious to see how you will use it. JB

Cathy,
Those blooms are lookin' good for this time of year and having so much rain there. I love that grinding stone and think it would make a great serving piece! Would also make great garden sculpture!
You've tempted me with the magazine but after my big cutter purchase probably won't be buying much of anything for a good long time!!
Hugs!

I can't believe you still have such beautiful flowers there! My flowers are truly over now.
Oh, I love that suitcase shelf idea, but I store so much fabric and seasonal clothes in mine I wouldn't have the heart to cut them up!
What are your plans for your basement apartment?
Take care-Kimberly

I love your fairy rose, such a pretty shade of pink and the shape of your hydrangea is so wonderful. I hope we get a peek of sun tomorrow I need to go blueberry picking before the snow flies! Smiles, Julie.

How perfectly wonderful! I recently saw a episode of Pickers where they went to visit an expert on millstones -- what a wonderful way to use yours -- making me wish I had a few :)

Blessings!

That fairy rose bush is stunning. It's nice to have a flowering plant that blooms for so long.

The flowers are beautiful...I think this time of year in the garden is the best. I saw that magazine too, but I'm with you on cutting down on them. I love mags, but they cost way too much anymore! Have fun and show the pics of the apartment!

Thank you so much for sending good thoughts to Texas because honey it is really scary here for a lot of us. I am not sleeping at night in fear of a wild fire.
Your flowers are just gorgeous. Wish I were there to walk through the gardens with you.
Can't wait to see your project you are working on and I love the idea of making lazy susan out of this. I would of never thought of it.
Have a wonderful weekend
Love
