Feeling Better

I went thrifting today not much but this tin. I just love it and will use it for storage in my craft room.
and who could resist this little face? Not me I bought a tray to plant in a few places until things start to bloom.
and my mother's African violet is in full flower. After she passed away I took it but thought I would never get it to bloom again, well Mom I did ok.
We had several bananas left over so I made this cake it is suppose to be marble but I got a bit carried away with the chocolate part. Still yummy though and I added choc chips.
It was a beautiful warm day it made my spirits soar. by 5pm it was 82 here, remember we had snow 4 days ago. I am blogging on my porch I hear the peepers and birds saying good night. I know all of you lucky southern girls are well past this but for this northern yankee it is wonderful.
It is official my husband will retire at the end of this school year. Papers are filed and his replacement has been hired. It is a big step for him but I am so excited for what is to come. I will stay working for a lot more years as we are young to retire. I had a lot of years off to be an at home mom while he worked several jobs so I could stay home and now it is his turn.
We are both feeling much better just tired so we hit the sheets pretty early. I hope spring has come to your house and you are able to enjoy it. I also want to welcome a new follower she is from Germany!

This weather has been so baffling here too! One day snowing the next sunshine and warm. Dave started a fire in the woodstove this evening again! By Sat. it's supposed to be in the 70's. No wonder you folks got so sick! I'm glad to hear you are better and enjoying some warmth!
Your African Violet sure is beautiful!
Stay well!

Cute find! I love the flowers and I'm looking forward to getting some annuals planted by Mother's Day. We are behind in our season too but I've mowed the grass twice. It's just been raining almost everyday and my yard is saturated! I guess that's better than snow! Congrats on hubby retiring...lucky guy! I'm also glad you both are feeling better.

I'm so glad you are feeling better! I can tell you're better with the baking and thrifting! That cake looks so good! I finally have stopped coughing myself! Congrats to your hubby about his retirement. What kind of teaching has he been doing? My African violets are blooming too! I guess they need to be a bit pot bound! And mine are certainly that! I finished the cat. Got binding tape on...but bailed out of whipping the edge. Just can't do it all! ;-)
See you Saturday!

So pleased you're feeling so much better!
Your tin is lovely, and pansy flowers are one of my favourites - I've planted loads (as usual) and I've more to put in!
I 'retired' about 8 years ago - that's a laugh, I rarely have a spare day. I'm sure your dear husband will love it too :o)
Don't overdo things though, take it in easy steps.
Have a great weekend.

Happy to hear you're feeling better! Happy retirement to your hubby! You did a splendid job with your mom's violet, they can be very fussy plants! The weather's been crazy, we've gone from gloves to shirtsleeves in less than a week!

Great to hear that you and your husband are feeling better. Your pansies and African violet are gorgeous. I planted some pansies that bloom as soon as the snow starts to melt last year and they are starting to bloom now. I have yet to weed that flower bed.

Congratulations on your husband's retirement. Now you can put him to work at home.

We are on flood watch again this weekend but e don't know yet how bad it will be. I'm hoping that it will be OK.
Have a great weekend and take it easy. That cake looks sinful. JB

It seems like you two are getting a little better everyday. Watched the wedding today and thinking very English of course. Tins are a very British thing to collect. Have you ever seen Cath Kidson tins, really lovely.
