What A UFO!

I bought this bag of wool some time ago at a thrift store. Most of it is dyed in swatches which I rarely use. I plan on using it in my next rug.
I have been going through the drawers of stuff I have and found a UFO. I pride myself on not having UFO's . This is a pretty small rug and I want to finish it up so this is my next project. But I have to pull out all the hooking. I have no clue where that wool is now and I used a cut that is to big for this rug. I think I will change the border do you have any ideas?
It was back to work and a pile of paper work today. We have been getting rain since we landed with all the snow it flooded. I had to go north to be able to go south, sounds complicated it was. I had to go over an old covered bridge. I held my breath the water was rushing under it with ice dams it was a bit nerve wracking. Today is my close friend's birthday, she was so kind to take care of my old cat while we were  away. So for her birthday I am signing us up for a hook in,  April 30th and May 1st, my other friend offered us her beach house and my husband the great guy he is has offered to take care of her dogs while we are away. So I am very excited for the both of us.
On a very sad note the young woman who I asked you to pray for has lost her battle with cancer yesterday, 29 years old. My heart is broken for that family as her struggle is over but theirs is not.
I am off to bed, I am not a good sleeper but I am going to give it a try. nightie night : )

So sorry to hear of the young lady who lost her battle with cancer. Are we any closer at all to finding the cure for this dreadful disease?
You are so right about the struggle now for the family. They need prayers for strength.
Looks like you are finding some hooking projects to keep busy with this Spring! That's a cute pattern that you could have fun with a colorful border.
Stay safe during this flood season......
Hugs!

I have Barbara Carroll's American Folk Art Rug Hooking book and that pattern is in there. The person who hooked the rug just used gold and black tweed around the border. The cats were done in blue/tan, rose/tan swirls with red cat whiskers. I kind of like the cat's paws in your pattern though.
The hook-in sounds blissful!! I would love to do that!
Sorry to hear about your friend. Twenty-nine is far too young. My heart goes out to her family and friends.
Take care,
Courtney

So sorry to read about the passing of your friend ~ will keep her family in my prayers.
What a wonderful way to repay your friend ~ a hook-in and a beach house ~ sounds like a win-win for you both! Cute pattern ~ can you leave that hooking in and improvise and just keep hooking ~ that would be my challenge ~ I don't like to reverse hook! Have fun~ Stay dry~

Cathy, I'm sorry about your young friend loosing her battle with cancer and I feel for her family and friends.

We live beside the St John River and flooding is always on our mind in the spring. We had a devastating flood in 2008 and again we had a flood this winter, that was very unexpected. I hope that you stay safe during this flood.
I hope that you can use some of that wool in your new cat rug. JB

I am saddened to hear of the young lady's passing. I cannot begine to imagine how the faimily is feeling. So sad.
Your hook-in and a stay at the beach house sounds heavenly. It should be great fun.
Cute pattern. I, too, have the book it is in.
Hugs :)

How sad to lose a friend, and how hard it will be for her family...29 is so young. That's the part of my job that I don't enjoy, the deadly word "cancer". Our surgery dept. had a Relay for Life team for 5yrs and raised money to help fight and find a cure. Maybe someday. UFO..funny name, but so true! Hope you can come up with a color palette that you like. I'm so not creative, so I'll just leave that up to the ones who are!

Condolences to the family of that young lady. LIFE Is so unfair sometimes. That rug is so cute. Cat pawprints would look nice on your background I think to break it up and maybe a colorful zigzag border. Would love to join you on the hookin. Sounds lovely.\

Glad to hear you have arrived home safe and sound, I am sure it will take a bit of adjusting to the weather here, no eighty degree temperatures in our neck of the woods. Looking forward to seeing updates on the cat rug. Welcome home!

How very sad. I spent the last year of my long nursing career working in Oncology. The saddest were the young patients. I'll keep her family in my prayers.

I like the cat rug! I'll look forward to seeing pictures of the finished product.
